Quick facts
Bosch EHK electric heater kits install in the Bosch BVA air handlers used with Bosch IDS central heat pumps. They warm the air already moving through the ducts when the heat pump needs extra heat. Five outputs are available, from 5 to 20 kW, and each heating element is protected by its own circuit breaker.
Five outputs listed by Bosch
The Bosch specifications for the BVA 15 and BVA 2.0 air handlers show which outputs suit each size. The 5, 7.5 and 10 kW kits have a single element and a single circuit; the 15 and 20 kW kits have two.

- EHK-05B (5 kW), EHK-08B (7.5 kW) and EHK-10B (10 kW): sizes 24, 36, 48 and 60
- EHK-15B (15 kW): sizes 36, 48 and 60

Before ordering
Note the full model number on the air handler’s nameplate. The MCA and maximum fuse or breaker size vary with the air handler size and series: they are listed in the Bosch specifications. Bosch also notes that a heat pump system needs a specified airflow, 350 to 450 CFM per ton of cooling.

What to know before installing
- EHK-15B needs a size 36 or larger air handler; EHK-20B, size 48 or larger.
- The MCA and maximum fuse or breaker size vary with the air handler size and series: they are listed in the Bosch specifications.
- Bosch notes a heat pump system needs 350 to 450 CFM per ton of cooling.
- The supply circuit is done by a licensed electrician, with the unit powered off.

Which kit fits my BVA air handler?
Per the Bosch specifications: 5, 7.5 and 10 kW for sizes 24 to 60, 15 kW for sizes 36 to 60 and 20 kW for sizes 48 and 60. We pick the output from a heating load calculation.
Is EHK-08B an 8 kW kit?
Bosch publishes it as a 7.5 kW kit.
Does it fit an M18-series BVA air handler?
The Bosch M18 air handler specifications we checked list a different kit series. Send us your air handler model number and we confirm before ordering.
Can you install it?
Yes. We fit the kit in the air handler and set up the backup heat with the heat pump; the supply circuit is run by a licensed electrician, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
