A 2-ton horizontal coil for systems short on height

The EHD4X24AAL and who it suits

The evaporator coil is the indoor part of a central air conditioner or a heat pump: house air gives up its heat in its fins in summer. Arcoaire’s EHD4X24AAL is a horizontal cased model, R-410A, in a 2-ton size (24,000 BTU/h). It suits homeowners whose air handler or electric furnace is installed on its side, and contractors looking for a replacement coil in the same configuration.

The coil is all aluminum, a choice Arcoaire puts forward for corrosion resistance. Its bi-flow TXV meters refrigerant in both flow directions, so the same coil works with an air conditioner or a heat pump.

Where it fits in a Quebec home

In many homes in the region, vertical space is short: a low basement ceiling, a crawl space, a system tucked in a utility closet or in the attic. A horizontal unit solves that, as long as the coil follows. This one accepts horizontal airflow in either direction, which gives leeway to orient it according to the blower side and the duct route.

The 2-ton size is the smallest in the EHD4X series, which goes up to the EHD4X60AAL. It is often found in condos, townhouses and small single-family homes. The right size still depends on the matched outdoor unit and on the home’s load calculation, not only on its size.

With a heat pump, the coil also works in winter: it passes the heat captured outdoors to the indoor air. Its role then goes beyond summer cooling.

It all starts with a free on-site estimate. We note the outdoor unit model, the orientation of the indoor unit and the available space, then confirm the cabinet dimensions before ordering. You then receive a written quote.

On installation day, our technicians set the coil, connect the refrigerant lines and the condensate drain, run the leak test and the evacuation, then commission the system. We check operation in cooling and, if you have a heat pump, in heating. The slide-out coil will then make maintenance cleanings easier.

This size is available while supplies last. Arcoaire grants a 10-year limited parts warranty when the product is registered within 90 days of installation, and 5 years otherwise. Sold alone, the coil is not eligible for the LogisVert grant.
