A coil that slides out of its cabinet
Over the years, the fine dust that gets past the filter settles on the evaporator coil fins and slows the airflow. The system then works harder for the same comfort. On Arcoaire’s EHD4X36AAL, the coil slides out of the cabinet: the technician reaches the fins easily and cleaning is more thorough.
The manufacturer also chose an all-aluminum coil, which it presents as corrosion resistant. For a component that sits in condensation moisture every summer, that choice matters.
What the EHD4X36AAL is
It is a horizontal cased evaporator coil, R-410A, in a 3-ton size (36,000 BTU/h). It attaches to an air handler or an electric furnace installed on its side and connects to an outdoor unit using the same refrigerant. Its bi-flow TXV lets it serve with a central air conditioner or with a heat pump, which also heats the house in winter.
In a local home
The 3-ton size sits in the middle of the EHD4X series, between the EHD4X30AAL and the EHD4X42AAL. It is found in single-family homes and two-storey houses whose central system is installed horizontally: crawl space, attic, basement ceiling. Because air can pass through the coil in either direction, it adapts to the side the blower is on.
In summer, the coil also removes moisture from the air. That water must drain to a floor drain or a condensate pump, something we plan from the first visit.

When the work is done, we show you where the indoor unit’s filter is: changing it regularly remains the best way to keep the coil clean between two cleanings.

Arcoaire offers a 10-year limited parts warranty when the product is registered within 90 days of installation, and 5 years without registration. This size is available while supplies last. Sold alone, the coil is not eligible for the LogisVert grant.

How is this coil cleaned?
The coil slides out of its cabinet, which gives access to the fins. We recommend having it cleaned by a technician, who also checks the condensate drain.
Why an all-aluminum coil?
Arcoaire chose aluminum for the whole coil and presents it as corrosion resistant.
Can I pair it with a heat pump?
Yes. Arcoaire presents it for an air conditioner or a heat pump, and its bi-flow TXV accepts refrigerant flow in both directions.
Do I need to register the warranty?
Yes. Arcoaire’s limited warranty is 10 years on parts if the product is registered within 90 days of installation, and 5 years otherwise. It covers owner-occupied homes.
Does this coil have a SEER2 rating?
