Quick facts
A narrow furnace can cool the whole house too
Furnaces 14-3/16 in wide are often found in a closet, a small mechanical room or a corner of a finished basement. When it is time to add central air conditioning, you need a coil that respects that width. The Arcoaire EVD4X30M14A evaporator coil meets exactly that need: 2.5 tons of R-410A air conditioning, in an insulated cabinet that lines up with the furnace. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
Who this model is for
The EVD4X30M14A is the narrowest of the EVD4X coils we offer. It is aimed at owners of a townhouse, a condo with a central system or a plex unit where the electric furnace sits in a tight space. At 26.1 lb operating weight, it is easy to handle in a closet or a narrow staircase. Its thermostatic expansion valve is factory installed, and the Power-V microchannel coil is all aluminum, a material that resists corrosion. According to Arcoaire, the Power-V layout, with the headers at the top, delivers the same or better SEER without resorting to a larger coil.
The limits to know
This coil is designed for air conditioning only. Arcoaire says it plainly: it is not for use with a heat pump. If your project also aims to heat with the outdoor unit, the right answer is a complete central heat pump, and we can quote one. Sold alone, the coil does not qualify for the LogisVert grant either, since it has no efficiency rating of its own.
It installs vertically, upflow or downflow. In a home where the furnace lies horizontally, a different model is needed. The furnace blower must also be able to deliver airflow between 750 and 1,250 CFM, the range published by the manufacturer. This model is available while supplies last.
Our installation, from plenum to commissioning
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. In a tight space, preparation matters as much as installation. We first measure the furnace and the space available above or below it, then check that the outdoor air conditioner uses R-410A and that its capacity matches. The coil is then set in the plenum, the 3/8 in and 3/4 in lines are connected, leak tested and evacuated, and the condensate drain is connected. Commissioning ends with setting the blower and checking operation in cooling mode.
Arcoaire covers parts with a 10-year limited warranty when the unit is registered on time, and 5 years if it is not registered within 90 days of installation.

Frequently asked questions
Does this coil suit a narrow furnace?
Yes, that is what it is for. Arcoaire designs it for a flush fit on a 14-3/16 in (360 mm) wide furnace. We measure your furnace before ordering.
What airflow does the furnace need to deliver?
The manufacturer publishes this coil’s performance between 750 and 1,250 CFM. At commissioning, we set the blower speed within that range.
Can it be used with a heat pump?
No. Arcoaire limits this model to air conditioning. Heating with the outdoor unit requires a central heat pump and a compatible coil.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not when it is sold alone. A cooling coil has no efficiency rating of its own and does not open the door to the grant.
How does the manufacturer warranty work?
Arcoaire offers 10 years on parts if the unit is registered on time, and 5 years if it is not registered within 90 days of installation. Where the warranty cannot depend on registration, the 10-year period applies.
