Cooling a large home from a single 21 in furnace
In a large home heated by an electric furnace, a single duct system can also deliver summer comfort, provided the coil keeps up. The Arcoaire EVD4X48M21A evaporator coil is the 4-ton size of the EVD4X series: an R-410A evaporator with a 21 in insulated cabinet and a factory-installed thermostatic expansion valve. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil and across the South Shore and the North Shore.
A size for high cooling needs
The EVD4X48M21A is aimed at homes where the cooling demand is high: several floors, large windows, a finished basement, or a combination of all of these. It pairs with a 4-ton R-410A central air conditioner and connects with a 3/8 in liquid line and a 7/8 in suction line. Its Power-V style V-coil is made of corrosion-resistant aluminum microchannel. Arcoaire places the headers at the top of the coil and states that this design delivers the same or better SEER without resorting to a larger coil. The condensate drain pan is PBT and the 24-gauge cabinet is fully insulated.
Airflow, the key to a 4-ton system
The bigger the system, the more air it has to move. Arcoaire publishes this coil’s performance between 1,200 and 2,000 CFM. Before proposing this size, we check that the furnace blower can deliver that airflow and that the supply and return ducts are large enough to carry it without excessive noise. If not, we tell you clearly and include the corrections in the quote.
This coil is designed for air conditioning only: it does not pair with a heat pump. It installs vertically, upflow or downflow, on a 21 in wide furnace. Sold alone, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. This model is available while supplies last.

We measure the furnace, assess the blower and ductwork, set the coil in the plenum, connect and braze the refrigerant lines, perform the leak test and evacuation, connect the condensate drain and commission the system. Arcoaire offers a 10-year parts limited warranty with timely registration, or 5 years without registration within 90 days of installation.
