Quick facts
More cooling capacity, in the same 21 in footprint
When a house needs a little more than a 3-ton system, the Arcoaire EVD4X42M21A evaporator coil provides 3.5 tons of R-410A air conditioning without changing width: its 21 in cabinet lines up with an electric furnace or air handler of the same width. AirGreen supplies and installs this coil in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and on the South Shore.
An evaporator for large electrically heated homes
This size is aimed at large homes, cottages with a finished basement and properties where a single furnace serves several floors. The Power-V series V-coil is made of corrosion-resistant aluminum microchannel; Arcoaire places the headers at the top and states that this design delivers the same or better SEER without a larger coil. The thermostatic expansion valve is factory installed, the condensate drain pan is PBT and the 24-gauge cabinet is fully insulated. The choice between 3 and 3.5 tons is made during the estimate, based on the house and the planned air conditioner, never by guesswork.
Lines and airflow: two points to check
Compared with the 3-ton size of the same series, this model needs a larger suction line: the connection is 7/8 in, with a 3/8 in liquid line. In a home where an old system is being replaced, we measure the lines in place before proposing to keep them. The furnace blower must also be able to deliver 1,050 to 1,750 CFM, the range of the performance table published by Arcoaire.
The coil installs vertically, upflow or downflow. It is designed for air conditioning only and does not pair with a heat pump. Sold alone, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. It is available while supplies last.
A complete installation by AirGreen
AirGreen is a Montreal family business that has worked in HVAC for more than fifteen years, under RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). Our team takes care of everything:
- surveying the furnace, blower, lines and outdoor air conditioner;
- setting the coil in the plenum and sealing it to the air ducts;
- brazing the refrigerant lines, leak testing and evacuation;
- connecting the condensate drain;
- commissioning and explaining how the system works.
Arcoaire covers parts with a 10-year limited warranty if the unit is registered on time, or 5 years if it is not registered within 90 days of installation.

A 3.5-ton evaporator for a 21 in furnace
The EVD4X42M21A sits vertically against a 21 in electric furnace or air handler. Connected to a 3.5-ton R-410A central air conditioner, it cools the air distributed through the ductwork.
- Large homes and cottages heated by a 21 in electric furnace
- 3.5-ton R-410A central air conditioner, new or existing
- Replacing a leaking coil of the same capacity
- Upflow or downflow

What to know before installing
- Air conditioning only: Arcoaire states this model is not designed for a heat pump.
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant; its performance depends on the matched air conditioner and furnace.
- The suction connection is 7/8 in: existing lines must match, or be replaced.
- The blower must be able to deliver 1,050 to 1,750 CFM depending on the chosen setting.
- Available while supplies last.

Frequently asked questions
Will my current refrigerant lines work?
The coil connects with 3/8 in (liquid) and 7/8 in (suction) lines. We measure the lines in place during the estimate; if they do not match, the quote includes replacing them.
What airflow is needed?
Arcoaire publishes this model’s performance between 1,050 and 1,750 CFM. We check that the furnace blower can deliver that airflow, then set it at commissioning.
Can it be paired with a heat pump?
No, the manufacturer limits it to air conditioning. To heat with the outdoor unit, a complete central heat pump is needed.
Does the coil qualify for LogisVert?
No. Sold alone, it has no efficiency rating of its own and does not qualify for the grant.
