GENERAL AIRSTAGE RLXFZ 2-Zone 24,000 BTU Heat Pump: Two Bedrooms Under the Roof, One Compressor Against the Summer Heat, Installed by AirGreen
What you are looking at here is the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE system built around the AOU24RLXFZ outdoor unit, sold under the GENERAL AIRSTAGE name: a 24,000 BTU compressor, 2 zones and, in this page's configuration, two wall-mounted heads of 7,000 + 7,000 BTU. Only the manufacturer's name has changed: Fujitsu General Limited has been called GENERAL Inc. since January 1, 2026. AHRI certificate 6998279, the ENERGY STAR certification, the published values and the warranty follow the machine, without exception.
The top floor of a condo, as anyone who lives there knows, is the first to heat up in June and the last to cool down in August. The roof soaks up sun all day and releases it into the bedrooms in the evening, at the exact moment you want to sleep. A window air conditioner in each bedroom blocks the view, rattles the glass, and your condo association no doubt has something to say about what hangs out of the windows. A multi-zone heat pump settles the matter cleanly: two wall-mounted heads, a single outdoor unit, one set point per bedroom, and nothing sticking out of the façade anymore.
In Verdun as in LaSalle, many recent condos sit in small flat-roofed buildings, with a balcony or a terrace on the top level. That is often where the outdoor unit finds its place, on a suitable bracket, or on the roof when the building allows it. We give you the technical information the association usually asks for before approving the work: model, planned location, sound level.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
The story fits in a few dates. In August 2025, Paloma Rheem Holdings, which has owned Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General. On January 1, 2026, the company became GENERAL Inc. Nothing moved on the technical side: the head office and the R&D centre in Kawasaki, Japan, the factories, the model numbers, the AIRSTAGE products and the warranty program have stayed the same. While the Fujitsu brand gradually fades out, the same AOU24RLXFZ outdoor unit can reach us under either label.
So we show two product pages for a single product, and we say it plainly: pick the one you like, the result installed in your home will be identical. Since February 2026, Rheem Canada has handled sales across the country; our distributor, Groupe Master, does not change.

Let's start with summer, since it is the whole point of this page. In cooling, the manufacturer publishes a SEER2 of 18.0 and an EER2 of 12.5. SEER2 averages out a full season; EER2 measures what the machine consumes when it is truly hot outside and the compressor does not let up. Under a flat roof in July, that second rating is the one that concerns you most: an EER2 of 12.5 means heat-wave afternoons stay reasonable on the electricity bill.
Top-floor heat is also humid heat. In cooling, the system removes up to 3.8 pints of water per hour from the indoor air. A drier bedroom feels cool at a higher set point, which lets the compressor work less hard for the same quality of sleep.
The two zones each follow their own set point. The main bedroom can go lower for the night while the second bedroom, now an office, stays at a working temperature; when nobody is in it, you put it on standby. The Inverter compressor adjusts its speed to the combined needs of both heads, with no abrupt starts. On the balcony or the roof, the outdoor unit shows a published sound level of 52.0 dB(A), a useful figure when the neighbour's terrace is right next door.
Winter counts too, even on the top floor. According to the values published by the manufacturer, the AOU24RLXFZ delivers 14,100 BTU of heat at −8 °C and 11,900 BTU at −15 °C, with a COP of 1.86 at −15 °C. Translated: on an ordinary January day as on a genuinely cold night, every kilowatt-hour consumed gives you back 1.86 kilowatt-hours of heat, where an electric baseboard gives you back just one. The HSPF2 of 8.7 sums up that performance over the whole heating season. Heating is guaranteed down to −15 °C; this is not a certified cold-climate model, so your baseboards stay in place for the harshest nights.
This page's configuration pairs two 7,000 BTU heads, but the 24,000 BTU compressor gives you some leeway. It accepts up to 3 zones, and you choose your indoor units with us from five compatible models:
- ASU7RLF1 (7,000 BTU): the guest room or the small office.
- ASU9RLF1 (9,000 BTU): the main bedroom facing south or west.
- ASU12RLF1 (12,000 BTU): the open living-kitchen area of recent condos.
- ASU15RF1 (15,000 BTU): the large open room under a cathedral ceiling.
- ASU18RLF (18,000 BTU): the very large living room, or the mezzanine open onto the living room.
That possible third zone is worth something in a condo: if you start with the two bedrooms, the open area can be added later to the same compressor, with no second outdoor unit on the balcony. We confirm the combination of capacities with you, so that each room gets the output that suits it.
Here is how the installation goes in a condominium building:
- The outdoor unit goes on a balcony wall bracket, a terrace base or the roof, depending on what the building allows, with enough air clearance all around.
- One refrigerant line per head, insulated and protected, follows the most discreet route: along an exterior wall, through a closet or under a painted line cover.
- Each wall-mounted head is fixed high on a clear wall, aimed to cool the bed without blowing straight onto it.
- Each head has its own condensate drain; when there is no natural slope, as is common in condos, a small condensate pump takes over.
- A dedicated electrical circuit, then a full commissioning by a refrigeration technician: R-410A charge check, tests in cooling and in heating.
Maintenance stays light. Each head hides washable indoor filters that come out without tools; a regular rinse in lukewarm water during the summer keeps the airflow intact. A yearly visit from a refrigeration technician covers cleaning the outdoor coil, checking the drain and inspecting the connections. The Wi-Fi module is offered as an option: handy for starting the bedroom cooling before you leave the office.
On the money side, this system carries the ENERGY STAR certification (ID 2409935) and it is on Hydro-Québec's LogisVert list, with a $705 grant according to the October 27, 2026 list. We guide you through the application. The warranty is 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour.
This system is designed for the owner of a two-bedroom top-floor condo, in Verdun, in LaSalle or elsewhere on the island, who sleeps badly from June to September and wants a permanent, discreet solution the association can accept. It also suits the person who works from home in the second bedroom and refuses to sweat in front of the screen in the afternoon.

The name on the box, GENERAL or Fujitsu, changes nothing about your summer nights. What changes them is a well-placed head in each bedroom and an outdoor unit set where it can breathe, and that is exactly the work we do at your home.
What people ask us about multi-zone systems.
Can I heat one room and cool another at the same time?
No. On a multi-zone system like this one, every head works in the same mode, heating or cooling. Each room still keeps its own set temperature.
What happens when every room calls for heat?
They share the outdoor unit’s capacity: 14,100 BTU/h at −8 °C, 11,900 at −15 °C.
How many heads can I connect?
Up to 3 on this outdoor unit. This product is configured for 2 heads.
How much is the LogisVert grant?
$705. The grant never exceeds 100 % of the cost before taxes; apply within 9 months of installation.
Is it ENERGY STAR certified?
Yes, ID 2409935.
Down to what temperature does it heat?
Down to −15 °C.
Is it noisy?
Indoors, the reference head goes down to 21 dB(A). Outdoors, 52 dB(A): we place the unit away from bedroom windows.
Why a multi-zone instead of several wall units?
One outdoor unit on the wall and one circuit. In return, the rooms share the capacity, and if the outdoor unit stops, every zone stops.
What does the warranty cover?
Our sheet lists 12 years on the compressor and 12 years on parts. AirGreen extended warranty: possible.
