A genuine part tied to leak detection on R-32 refrigerant systems, the GENERAL AIRSTAGE shut-off valve kit comes in two models, UTPGU027A and UTPGU060A, and is selected according to the system it protects. With the GENERAL logo, it is exactly the same kit as the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE version. As of January 1, 2026, Fujitsu General Limited took the name GENERAL Inc., with no change of manufacturer or factories; as the Fujitsu name gradually fades out, GENERAL takes over on the very same kit.
R-32 and the A2L class
The global warming potential of R-32 is low, but this refrigerant belongs to the A2L class, the one for mildly flammable products. The result: installation standards limit the charge a system may hold according to the volume of the rooms served, and manufacturers add safeguards such as leak sensors and shut-off valves. In fact, a refrigerant leak sensor is already built into several recent AIRSTAGE indoor units, including ducted units and air handlers, whether GENERAL or Fujitsu.
Getting to the right model
Three factors decide whether a shut-off valve is required and, if so, which of the two models to install: the unit, the circuit’s refrigerant charge and the rooms it serves. Nobody should pick this part by eye: before ordering, we check it against the manufacturer’s installation documentation that applies to your system.
