Quick facts
In a refrigerant leak detection system, the GENERAL AIRSTAGE UTYXWZXZL UART cable is the OEM part that connects the gas sensor. It is the same part under the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE brand: Fujitsu General Limited, now owned by Paloma Rheem Holdings, renamed itself GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026, without touching the model numbers. The acronym UART refers to a serial communication link: this cable is how the sensor and the unit pass their signals to each other.
A link that is part of the unit’s safety
When the unit runs on an A2L refrigerant such as R-32, leak detection is one of its safeguards. The sensor still has to stay in touch with the unit: a faulty link makes it useless. So we install the cable the manufacturer provides, not a generic connector. Sometimes no external cable is needed at all: the manufacturer indicates that several R-32 AIRSTAGE units, for example the ARUH ducted units and the AMUH units, have their sensor built in.
The information to send us
Before ordering the cable, we validate the installation from this information:
- the model number of each unit, indoor and outdoor, read from its nameplate
- the unit’s refrigerant, as displayed on the nameplate (R-32, R-410A…)
- where possible, a photo of the spot where the unit sits
Routing, connection and testing
The cable routing follows the unit’s manual, and we test the detection system once the connection is complete. A unit with A2L refrigerant requires a qualified technician for any work.

The link between the sensor and the unit
A gas sensor only protects if it talks to the equipment: this genuine cable makes that link.
- Connecting a GENERAL or Fujitsu gas sensor to the equipment
- Replacing a damaged cable in an existing detection system
- R-32 installations that call for external leak detection
Specifications

Frequently asked questions
Does my installation need it?
Only if it includes an external gas sensor to connect. Several R-32 AIRSTAGE units have a built-in sensor per the manufacturer. Send us your model numbers and we check.
Is it compatible with my unit?
We confirm compatibility with the manufacturer from your units’ model numbers, before any order.
Can I use a generic cable?
We do not recommend it: leak detection is a safety function, and we fit the part the manufacturer designed.
Can you install it?
Yes. Our technicians connect the cable and test the detection system, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
