GE Zoneline PTAC units in Montreal: your wall outlet picks the heater
Three R-454B Zoneline heat pumps — 9,000, 12,000 and 15,000 BTU — that slide into the standard 42 × 16 in sleeve. At GE, back-up heat comes from a power cord kit: the outlet already in your wall, 6-15, 6-20 or 6-30, sets the heater at 2.4, 3.4 or 4.8 kW.

03 · Heating
Heat pump first, heater second
GE runs the AZHS heat pump down to 25 °F (−4 °C) outside, with reverse-cycle defrost. Colder than that, the cord kit’s heater takes over. Slide the temperature to see what heats.

The sleeve, the grille and the kits
A Zoneline is ordered with its kits. Here are the ones GE provides, and what each one does.

The wall sleeve
42 × 16 in, 13 ¾ in deep; also 16, 18, 20 and 24 in. The chassis is 20 13/16 in deep.
The deflector
Adapts the Zoneline to an outside grille that isn’t GE’s.
The cord that sets the heater
RAK315P, RAK320P or RAK330P: 2.4, 3.4 or 4.8 kW at 230 V, on a 6-15, 6-20 or 6-30 outlet.
The acoustic sleeve
GE says the RAB42MGSTC raises the Zoneline’s rating to STC 31. GE publishes no sound level in dB.
The fresh-air vent
Brings in outdoor air. GE gives two different airflows depending on the document: we confirm it on quotation.
The corrosion protection
The “C” in AZHS…DCXXA: corrosion treatment as standard, per GE’s model-number key.

05 · Grants and certifications
The straight answer before the quotation
LogisVert
Not eligible
Hydro-Québec’s guide (v1.10, Sept. 15, 2026) covers ENERGY STAR split and mini-split heat pumps with an outdoor unit of at least 12,000 BTU/h. A PTAC is a single package, and no AZHS appears in Hydro-Québec’s list of October 13, 2026.
ENERGY STAR
No category
ENERGY STAR has no specification in force for PTACs: the PTHP heat pump one (v1.0) remained a draft, paused according to the EPA (December 2025).
AHRI
Certified
12,000: certificate 215399516 · 15,000: certificate 215406392 (rated as PTHP, packaged terminal heat pump). The 9,000’s certificate isn’t published online.
Why say it? Because a PTAC is often weighed against a wall heat pump, which can qualify for LogisVert. If the grant matters for your project, ask us for both options in the same quotation.

07 · FAQ
Your Zoneline questions
Which Zoneline size for my room?
By our estimate (GE publishes no square-foot range): the 9,000 for about 130 to 195 sq ft, the 12,000 for 170 to 255 sq ft, the 15,000 for 235 to 350 sq ft. Insulation, windows and orientation can change the choice.
My outlet is a 6-20: which heater will I get?
The RAK320P kit: 3.4 kW at 230 V or 2.78 kW at 208 V, on a 20 A circuit. With a 6-15, it’s the RAK315P (2.4 kW); with a 6-30, the RAK330P (4.8 kW).
Does the Zoneline heat in a Montréal winter?
Yes, in two stages: the heat pump down to −4 °C outside, then the cord kit’s heater. In deep cold, the heater does the work, like a baseboard.
208 V or 230 V: what changes?
A little less output at 208 V. For example, the 4.8 kW heater gives 3.93 kW at 208 V, and the 15,000 cools at 14,700 BTU/h instead of 15,100.
Will the Zoneline fit my current sleeve?
It’s built for the 42 × 16 in sleeve (RAB42MG at GE). If the outside grille isn’t GE’s, GE provides the RAK40 deflector. The sleeve and grille are checked before ordering.
Are GE PTAC units eligible for LogisVert?
No. LogisVert covers ENERGY STAR split and mini-split heat pumps with an outdoor unit; no AZHS Zoneline is in Hydro-Québec’s list of October 13, 2026.
Are they ENERGY STAR certified?
No: ENERGY STAR has no category in force for PTACs. They are AHRI certified, though (12,000 and 15,000).
Which refrigerant?
R-454B, per GE’s AZHS spec sheets.
Can I control it over Wi-Fi?
GE’s documents disagree: the AZHS model key says “no onboard Wi-Fi”, and the brochure lists a SmartHQ module (SHCM10PK) sold separately. We confirm it on quotation.
What is the warranty?
GE publishes the Zoneline warranty for the United States; the terms that apply in Québec are confirmed on quotation.
Does it dehumidify?
Yes, in cooling mode: 2.0, 3.1 and 4.1 pints per hour for the 9,000, 12,000 and 15,000, according to GE.
Is it noisy?
GE publishes no sound level in dB for these models. It mentions a sound barrier and an acoustic sleeve (RAB42MGSTC) that raises the rating to STC 31.
How much is an installed Zoneline?
The price is on quotation, and the quotation is free. It depends on the model, the kit, and the sleeve and grille in place.
