A heat pump does not make heat: it moves it.
Pick a model and a temperature: here is how many kWh of heat come out per kWh of electricity, from the NEEP list COPs, and what a kWh of heat costs at Rate D.
At -8 °C, heat of 14,400 BTU/h at the rated point (NEEP list).
COPs published by the NEEP list (ashp.neep.org, data by AHRI number, Oct. 8, 2026): rated at 8, -8 and -15 °C; at the coldest point, at maximum output, as reported by the manufacturer.
