The add-on is the EVOX G3 outdoor unit and a Midea MAAHE coil set on your existing furnace. The heat pump heats first; the furnace stays in place for the days the house needs it.

EVOX G3Enhanced vapor injection (EVI)
In deep cold, the compressor gets medium-temperature vapor to raise the refrigerant flow and heat harder, according to Midea.

The EVOX G3 outdoor unit and a Midea MAAHE coil set on your existing furnace. The heat pump heats and cools; the furnace stays in place for the days the house needs it.
$1,824 to $4,536 depending on the combination, per Hydro-Québec’s tool. All twelve combinations are ENERGY STAR cold climate: $120 per 1,000 BTU/h of certified heat at -8 °C.
Because the coil changes the certified heat at -8 °C. At 2.5 tons: 24,000 BTU/h with the AA coil ($2,880), 25,000 with BA or CA ($3,000). At 5 tons: 37,800 with CA ($4,536), 36,000 with DA ($4,320).
The one whose width lines up with your furnace: AA (14 1/2 in.), BA (17 1/2), CA (21) or DA (24 1/2), per our product pages. We measure the furnace and the space above it at the visit.
The EVOX G3 outdoor unit runs down to -30 °C and keeps 100% of its heat down to -25 °C, according to Midea. With a coil on a furnace, the NEEP list gives 11,500 BTU/h to 30,000 BTU/h at -30 °C depending on the combination.
If your furnace is in good shape, the add-on keeps it as backup. If it is near the end of its life, the EVOX G3 central replaces it with the Midea indoor unit. We look at both with you at the visit. See the EVOX G3.
Yes: it is a heat pump. In summer, the same outdoor unit cools through the coil and your ducts.
For the first owner of a single-family home: 7 years on the compressor and 5 years on parts, or 12 years on both if the unit is registered within 60 days. Any other use: 5 years compressor, 1 year parts. Next owner: 5 and 5. Midea excludes labour and refrigerant.
