Quick facts
54 kW on 208 V single phase, and a boiler that emails you when something is off
Who the VoltMax 54 is designed for
An apartment building managed from outside, a condominium association without a caretaker, a community building open a few days a week: in these buildings, no one walks past the boiler every morning. Thermo 2000’s VoltMax 54 answers that reality. Its controller reports its status on a web page, reached through the Ethernet port, and sends its alarms to the manager by email.
It is a 54 kW commercial hot-water electric boiler on 208 V single phase. It heats the water loop of a radiator network, radiant floors or a hydro-air system, and can supply an indirect water heater through a second setpoint. Among the 208 V single-phase sizes we offer in the VoltMax SCR series, it is the largest.
Fewer trips for maintenance
The Schneider Electric controller shows specific alarm codes, in French or English, on a 3 in backlit display. When an alarm arrives by email, the technician already knows what to look for before going on site. If the building has a building management system, BACnet IP or MS-TP communication lets the boiler be monitored along with the rest of the equipment.
This model has 12 Incoloy immersion elements, all 6 kW and replaceable. A single spare part therefore covers the whole boiler. The solid-state relay (SCR) varies output from 0 to 100%, and the controller rotates the relay stages so that the same elements do not always run first.
Points to check before ordering
- Current: Thermo 2000 publishes 260.1 A on 208 V single phase. The electrical service must be able to carry this load on top of the building’s other equipment.
- Low water cut-off: at 54 kW, it remains an option, since Thermo 2000 installs it as standard above 60 kW.
- Circulator and expansion tank: they are not among the supplied parts.
- Space: 24 in of clearance at the front, 32 in above and 3 in on the sides and back. The unit weighs 310 lb (141 kg) and holds 11 US gal of water.
AirGreen’s installation, step by step
- Free on-site estimate: we survey the existing loop, the mechanical room and the electrical service.
- Written quote: it specifies the boiler, the circulator, the expansion tank and, where needed, the low water cut-off.
- Installation: setting the unit in place, connecting it to the loop through the 1 1/2 in NPT fittings, piping the discharge of the factory-installed relief valve, making the electrical connection and mounting the outdoor sensor.
- Commissioning: filling, purging, and setting the setpoint, outdoor reset and email alarms with the manager.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. Our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 covers ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. Thermo 2000, for its part, covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.

A hot-water boiler room you can manage without being on site
In a building where no one watches the mechanical room day to day, the VoltMax 54 reports its status on a web page and sends its alarms by email. It heats the water loop that serves radiators, radiant floors or a hydro-air system.
- Apartment buildings run by a property manager or a condominium association
- Commercial or community buildings with 208 V single-phase power
- Replacing an electric boiler of similar output
- Domestic hot water through an indirect water heater

Frequently asked questions
How do I know whether the building’s electrical service is large enough?
Thermo 2000 publishes a current of 260.1 A on 208 V single phase for this model. During the free estimate, we compare that value with the service capacity and the building’s other loads, then size the breaker and conductors.
How is the boiler monitored remotely?
Through the controller’s Ethernet port: a web page shows its status and alarms go out by email. If the building has a management system, the controller also communicates over BACnet IP or MS-TP.
Can the heating elements be replaced?
Yes. Thermo 2000 uses replaceable Incoloy immersion elements; this model has 12 of them, all identical at 6 kW.
Is a low water cut-off needed?
At 54 kW, it is offered as an option; Thermo 2000 installs it as standard above 60 kW. We state in the quote whether your installation calls for one.
Can it produce domestic hot water?
With an indirect water heater. The controller provides a second setpoint for that tank and a pump contact with or without domestic hot water priority.
