Quick facts
67.5 kW on 208 V three phase for older buildings that keep their hot-water radiators
The VoltMax 68 at a glance
Thermo 2000 designs the VoltMax SCR for commercial, institutional and multi-unit buildings. The VoltMax 68 model runs on 208 V three phase; its designation rounds the output, which the manufacturer publishes at 67.5 kW, or 230,310 BTU/h. Among the 208 V three-phase sizes we offer in this series, it is the largest.
In Montreal as in Longueuil, former factories turned into lofts, heritage buildings converted into offices and pre-war apartment buildings still heat with hot-water radiators. When their electric boiler needs replacing, the VoltMax 68 can supply that existing network, as well as radiant floors or hydro-air coils added during a renovation.
Period radiators, today’s controls
The setpoint ranges from 50 °F to 200 °F (10 °C to 93 °C). Thanks to the included outdoor sensor, the Schneider Electric controller lowers water temperature in mild weather and raises it when the cold sets in, instead of keeping the radiators scorching all winter. The solid-state relay (SCR) varies output from 0 to 100%, with rotating relay stages; according to Thermo 2000, this modulation limits peak power demand.
The controller shows alarm codes in French or English and, through its Ethernet port, gives access to a web page and sends alarms by email. It also communicates over BACnet IP or MS-TP. Above 60 kW, Thermo 2000 installs a low water cut-off as standard, which adds to the two limit controls and the factory-installed relief valve.
Finding room in the basement
Mechanical rooms in older buildings are rarely spacious. The VoltMax is vertical and compact: Thermo 2000 requires 3 in of clearance on the sides and back, 24 in at the front and 32 in above, and it sits directly on the floor. It weighs 310 lb (141 kg) and holds 11 US gal of water. Four 1 1/2 in male NPT side connections tie it into the existing piping. The circulator and expansion tank are not among the supplied parts; we check whether the existing ones can stay.
On the electrical side, Thermo 2000 publishes a current of 187.7 A for this model, which we compare with the building’s service before confirming the size.
What AirGreen does
We start with a free on-site estimate: radiators, piping, air vents, mechanical room, electrical service. You then receive a detailed written quote. On installation day, our technicians remove the old unit, install the VoltMax, connect it to the network, make the electrical connection and mount the outdoor sensor. They fill and purge the system, then set the heating curve to suit the radiators.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.
Let’s give your building a new boiler
We install the VoltMax SCR in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and on the South Shore. Ask for your free estimate: the quote is in writing, and financing is available.
A modern boiler for an existing radiator network
Lofts in a former factory, offices in a heritage building, a pre-war apartment building: many buildings keep their hot-water radiators. The VoltMax 68 supplies them on 208 V three phase, with a water temperature that follows the weather.
- Older buildings converted into lofts or offices that keep their radiators
- Apartment buildings with a 208 V three-phase supply
- Replacing an electric boiler of similar output
- An indirect water heater on the second setpoint

Frequently asked questions
Why 67.5 kW for a VoltMax 68?
The model designation rounds the output. Thermo 2000 publishes 67.5 kW, or 230,310 BTU/h, for the VoltMax 68 on 208 V three phase; that is the value we compare with the building’s heating load.
Can it supply an old radiator network?
Its setpoint goes up to 200 °F (93 °C), and the outdoor sensor lowers it in mild weather. Before recommending it, we look at the existing network (radiators, piping, air vents) and the water temperature it needs.
Is the low water cut-off included?
Yes. Thermo 2000 installs it as standard on VoltMax models above 60 kW, including this one. It interrupts heating if the water level drops in the boiler.
What current should be planned for?
Thermo 2000 publishes 187.7 A for this model on 208 V three phase. We size the breaker and conductors from that value, after checking the electrical service.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
10 years on the tank (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components.
