Quick facts
A 36 kW VoltMax on 240 V to heat the building and its hot water
A commercial boiler for buildings on 240 V
Thermo 2000’s VoltMax is a hot water electric boiler intended for commercial and institutional buildings. The 36 kW model, on 240 V single phase, produces 122,832 BTU/h and draws 150 A. It is part of the series’ configuration A, which runs from 22.5 to 90 kW. Its 6 Incoloy immersion elements of 6 kW are replaceable.
It suits buildings supplied at 240 V single phase that heat with water: a clinic, a daycare, a small office building, a commercial unit with a radiant floor. It is also used to replace an electric boiler at the end of its life when the hot water loop is in good condition.
Heating and domestic hot water on the same boiler
The VoltMax’s Schneider Electric controller manages two setpoints. The first sets the water of the heating loop, adjusted to the weather by the included outdoor sensor. The second is reserved for an indirect water heater, which heats domestic water with the boiler’s water.
The pump contact works with or without domestic hot water priority. With priority, the boiler serves the water heater first. We choose the mode that suits how the building is used: a daycare that does a lot of washing in the morning does not have the same needs as an office.
Either way, SCR modulation varies the output from 0 to 100% through solid-state relays. Thermo 2000 points out that this modulation limits peak power demand, which matters in a building where several electrical appliances run at the same time. The 3 in backlit LCD shows both setpoints and the alarm codes, in French or English.
What installation by AirGreen covers
Everything starts with a free on-site estimate in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore or on the South Shore. We check the capacity of the electrical service, since the boiler draws 150 A, then the hot water loop and the location of the indirect water heater, if there is one. The written quote specifies the circulator, expansion tank and water heater selected, which are not among the parts supplied by Thermo 2000.
Our technicians install the boiler with the clearances set by the manufacturer, including 24 in in front for service, connect it through its 1 1/2 in NPT connections and pipe the discharge of the factory-installed relief valve. They mount the outdoor sensor, make the electrical connection and set both controller setpoints before handing the installation over to you.
A family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.

Building heat and hot water from a single boiler
The VoltMax 36 heats the building’s hydronic loop. Its second setpoint lets you connect an indirect water heater, and its pump contact works with or without domestic hot water priority.
- Clinics, daycares and small office buildings on 240 V
- Radiant floors in commercial units
- Buildings adding an indirect water heater to their heating loop
- Replacing an electric boiler at the end of its life

What to know before installing
- 240 V single-phase, 60 Hz power supply on a dedicated circuit. At 150 A, the boiler takes up a large share of an electrical service: we check the available capacity before quoting.
- The indirect water heater, circulator and expansion tank are not supplied with the boiler: we choose them for your loop.
- Plan 24 in in front, 32 in above and 3 in on the sides and at the back; no clearance is required at the floor.
- Low water cut-off: optional on this size, standard only above 60 kW.
- The relief valve is factory-installed (3/4 in female NPT connection); its discharge is piped to a drain during installation.
- Schneider Electric controller with backlit display
- Outdoor temperature sensor
- Control ON/OFF switch
- Control and power fuses and breakers
- SCR relays
- 2 limit controls, one automatic, one manual
- Factory-installed relief valve
- Drain valve

Frequently asked questions
How does domestic hot water priority work?
The controller has a pump contact, with or without domestic hot water priority, and a second setpoint for the indirect water heater. With priority, the boiler serves the water heater first. We set this choice according to how the building is used.
Does the VoltMax suit a radiant floor?
Yes. The setpoint ranges from 50 °F to 200 °F, and the included outdoor sensor lets the controller adapt the water temperature to the weather. We set it according to the floor’s design.
What current should be planned for?
Thermo 2000 lists 150 A for this 240 V single-phase model. The electrician sizes the breaker and conductors from that value.
Which standards does the boiler meet?
Thermo 2000 lists CSA C22.2 No. 165-92 and UL 834 (CSA mark for Canada and the United States), CSA B-51-14 for the tank, CRN registration and the ASME Section IV “H” stamp.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
The tank is covered for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years, parts and accessories.
