The Élios EAHxxDUL series heating element is made for the GPHLA extra-slim fan coil, the thin ducted unit that hides in a drop ceiling or an attic. It adds electric auxiliary heat of 3, 5, 8 or 10 kW nominal, at 208-230 V single-phase, and keeps the unit's slim profile: 28.74 × 3.9 × 7.48 in and 1.8 kg.
Auxiliary heat where there is no room for an air handler
In a condo, a renovation or a floor with no mechanical room, the GPHLA distributes air through short ducts from the ceiling. The DUL element supplements the heat pump when it needs extra heat. Élios lists it as an optional accessory in the submittal sheets for the GPHLA18, GPHLA24, GPHLA30 and GPHLA36.

- 5, 8 and 10 kW: for all four sizes, from 18,000 to 36,000 BTU.
- 3 kW: for the GPHLA18, GPHLA30 and GPHLA36; it does not appear in the GPHLA24 sheet.
Built-in relay, protection at the panel
The manufacturer's drawing shows a relay on each DUL element, with no breaker. Circuit protection is therefore provided at the panel, based on the maximum value (MOCP) in the sheet: 20 A for the 3 kW up to 50 A for the 10 kW, at 230 V. Actual output also varies with voltage; the 10 kW delivers 9 kW at 230 V and 7.4 kW at 208 V. The values for each size are shown when you select it.

What to know before installing
- The 3 kW kit is not listed on the GPHLA24 submittal: use 5, 8 or 10 kW for that size.
- No breaker appears on the DUL drawing: plan circuit protection at the panel, per the MOCP on the sheet.
- The 10 kW kit needs 50 A MCA and 50 A max. overcurrent protection at 230 V.
- The supply circuit is done by a licensed electrician, with the unit powered off.

Which kit fits my GPHLA?
The Élios submittals list the 5, 8 and 10 kW kits for all four sizes, 18,000 to 36,000 BTU, and the 3 kW kit for the GPHLA18, GPHLA30 and GPHLA36. Send us your unit’s model number and we confirm before ordering.
Is it the same kit as for the GGHLA wall-mount air handler?
No. The GGHLA takes the EAHxxCUL series. The DUL series is longer and thinner, made for the GPHLA.
Does the kit have its own breaker?
The manufacturer’s DUL drawing shows only a relay. The circuit is protected at the electrical panel, per the max. overcurrent protection listed for each rating.
Can you install it?
Yes. We fit the kit in the GPHLA and check the backup heat; the supply circuit is run by a licensed electrician, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
