Quick facts
The GENERAL AIRSTAGE UTY-VMSX Modbus converter brings an AIRSTAGE heat pump onto a Modbus network. What you get here is the same part under the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE brand: Fujitsu General Limited, the manufacturer, has used the name GENERAL Inc. since January 1, 2026, with no change of factories or model number.
Its role, according to the manufacturer’s documentation: to allow “centralized monitoring and control of air conditioners” from a building management system, a central controller or a home automation controller.
One converter for each indoor unit
Each UTY-VMSX connects to a single indoor unit, through the UART interface on its circuit board. There is no separate power supply to plan for: the unit itself provides its 12 V DC. A rental building or a commercial space with several heat pumps therefore needs as many converters as units, all then tied into the Modbus network.
What the manufacturer publishes
- Power source: the indoor unit, at 12 V DC
- Maximum consumption: 1.2 W
- Footprint: 140 × 117 × 43 mm (H × W × D), for a net weight of 200 g
- Connection: a single indoor unit per converter
The units it is meant for
The manufacturer attaches it to the accessory list of its R-32 H-series systems, sold during the transition under the GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE name. That list brings together three wall units (Altair 500, Orion XLTH and Orion XLTH+), two cassettes (ACUH and AUUH), two ducted units (ADUH and ARUH), the AMUH air handler, the AGUH floor unit and the suspended ceiling unit. If your management system runs on BACnet MS/TP instead, the manufacturer also lists the FJ-AC-485-1 gateway.

Frequently asked questions
Is my unit compatible?
The manufacturer lists the UTY-VMSX among the accessories of its R-32 AIRSTAGE H-Series systems: Altair 500, Orion XLTH and Orion XLTH+ wall units, ACUH and AUUH cassettes, ADUH and ARUH ducted units, AMUH air handlers, AGUH floor units and the ceiling-suspended unit. Send us the model number and we confirm.
Does it need separate power?
No. The manufacturer states no external power supply is required: the converter takes 12 V DC from the indoor unit.
How many units per converter?
One. Five units need five converters.
Can you install it?
Yes. We fit the converters and work with your integrator on addressing, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
