The END4X24L14A, a coil the width of your furnace
In many bungalows and condos heated by an electric furnace, adding central air conditioning comes down to two components: an outdoor unit and a coil set on the furnace. Arcoaire’s END4X24L14A is that coil for narrow units. It is a 2-ton (24,000 BTU/h) N evaporator coil, R-410A, housed in a 14-3/16 in wide cabinet that lines up flush with furnace and air handler cabinets of the same width.
The TXV is bolted on at the factory, equalizer tube already brazed in. The main tubing and the fins are aluminum, with copper stubs for the connections. The coil installs in upflow as well as in downflow.
Why a cased N coil
Arcoaire presents its N coils as shorter than comparable A coils. In a basement where the ducts brush the joists, that saved height often makes the difference. The pre-painted steel cabinet is insulated with foil-faced insulation and designed not to sweat, which matters in a damp basement in midsummer. Its front panel comes off for service, and its flanges are hemmed.
The coil also offers two condensate drain connections. We pick the one that gives the simplest route to the floor drain or the pump.
What we check before ordering
First the width: this model is for 14-3/16 in units. For a 17-1/2 in cabinet, the END4X24L17A offers the same capacity. Then the height available above the furnace, which we measure on site, because the ICP sheet does not name every dimension on its drawing. Finally the blower, which must be able to deliver 700 to 900 CFM, the range given for this size. The ICP sheet does not state use with a heat pump; if that is your project, we confirm the match with the outdoor unit.
