Quick facts
One coil, three ways to install it
In a home, the heating unit does not always stand upright in the middle of the basement. It may lie in the ceiling, slide into a crawl space or sit in a closet with the ducts heading downward. The Arcoaire EVM4X24M17A multipoise evaporator coil adapts to all three situations: it works in vertical upflow, vertical downflow or horizontal. This 2-ton R-410A model adds central air conditioning to an electric furnace or an air handler. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and on the South Shore.
Which projects it suits
The 2-ton size suits small central systems: a condo, a plex unit with its own furnace, a townhouse or a compact bungalow. We always confirm the capacity during the estimate. The flush fit is designed for a 17-1/2 in wide unit. The V-coil follows Arcoaire’s Power-V design: headers at the top and all-aluminum microchannel. According to the manufacturer, this layout delivers the same or better SEER without a larger coil. The thermostatic expansion valve is factory installed.
What changes when the unit lies on its side
In a horizontal installation, condensate must be able to drain without backing up. The PBT condensate drain pan resists corrosion, but the drain leaving it must be properly connected and keep a continuous slope; it is one of the points we take the most care with. The 24-gauge pre-painted steel cabinet is fully insulated, with foil-faced R-2.1 insulation. At 33.1 lb operating weight, the coil remains easy to lift up to a ceiling.
Two limits to know: Arcoaire limits this model to air conditioning, so it does not pair with a heat pump, and the coil sold alone does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. This model is available while supplies last.
How we install it
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. We work under RBQ licence 5645-9605-01, which covers ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. We first check the orientation and width of the unit as well as the outdoor air conditioner, which must use R-410A. We then set the coil in the right position, connect it to the ducts, braze the 3/8 in and 3/4 in lines, perform the leak test and evacuation, then connect the drain. Commissioning includes setting the blower within the 600 to 1,000 CFM range published by Arcoaire.
The manufacturer offers a 10-year parts limited warranty with timely registration, or 5 years without registration within 90 days of installation.

A 2-ton coil that adapts to the unit’s orientation
The EVM4X24M17A connects to a 17-1/2 in electric furnace or air handler, whether it stands upright or lies on its side. Paired with an R-410A central air conditioner, it cools the air distributed through the ducts.
- Air handlers lying in a basement ceiling or a crawl space
- 17-1/2 in electric furnaces, upflow or downflow
- Condos and plex units with a small central system
- 2-ton R-410A central air conditioner

What to know before installing
- Air conditioning only: Arcoaire states this model is designed for AC applications and does not pair with a heat pump.
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant; performance depends on the matched air conditioner and indoor unit.
- The air conditioner must use R-410A; 3/8 in (liquid) and 3/4 in (suction) connections.
- In a horizontal installation, plan room for the condensate drain and its slope.
- Available while supplies last.

Frequently asked questions
Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes. Arcoaire designs it as a multipoise coil: vertical upflow, vertical downflow or horizontal. We choose the position based on the orientation of the furnace or air handler.
Does it work with a heat pump?
No. The manufacturer limits this model to air conditioning. Heating with the outdoor unit requires a complete central heat pump.
What unit width is needed?
The flush fit is designed for a 17-1/2 in (445 mm) wide furnace. We measure the unit in place before ordering.
How much does it weigh?
33.1 lb (15.0 kg) operating and 39.3 lb (17.8 kg) shipping, according to Arcoaire. It is easy to handle, even in a crawl space.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No. Sold alone and limited to air conditioning, it does not qualify.
