Large cooling capacity, whatever position your furnace is in

Large homes often have less conventional setups: an electric furnace lying in the ceiling of a finished basement, an air handler running downflow in a mechanical room, a duct system serving three levels. The Arcoaire EVM4X48M21A multipoise evaporator coil brings 4 tons of R-410A air conditioning to these systems, in vertical upflow, vertical downflow or horizontal. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil and throughout the North Shore and the South Shore.

Which needs it serves

The 4-ton size is aimed at homes with high cooling demand. We only recommend it after assessing the house, because a coil that is too big for the need adds nothing. It lines up with a 21 in wide furnace or air handler and pairs with a 4-ton R-410A central air conditioner, with a 3/8 in liquid line and a 7/8 in suction line.

What the manufacturer built in

Arcoaire builds this V-coil on its Power-V design: the headers are at the top, and the manufacturer states it delivers the same or better SEER without resorting to a larger coil. The microchannel coil is all aluminum, the thermostatic expansion valve is factory installed, the PBT condensate drain pan resists corrosion and the 24-gauge pre-painted steel cabinet is fully insulated. The coil weighs 38.2 lb (17.3 kg) in operation.

The manufacturer publishes this model’s performance between 1,200 and 2,000 CFM. That is significant airflow: we check that the blower can deliver it and that the ducts can carry it. This coil is limited to air conditioning and does not pair with a heat pump. Sold alone, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. It is available while supplies last.

Our installation

AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. Our ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work is done under RBQ licence 5645-9605-01. The installation includes:

• a free on-site assessment of the house, the indoor unit and the ductwork;
• setting the coil in the chosen position and sealing it to the ducts;
• brazing the 3/8 in and 7/8 in lines, leak testing and evacuation;
• connecting the condensate drain, with a continuous slope;
• commissioning and setting the blower.

Arcoaire offers a 10-year parts limited warranty if the unit is registered on time, and 5 years if it is not registered within 90 days of installation.
