Quick facts
Renew your central air conditioning without changing the furnace
Your 21 in electric furnace still works very well, but the old cooling coil leaks or no longer cools. Rather than replacing everything, the Arcoaire EVM4X42M21A multipoise evaporator coil lets you renew the cooling side: 3.5 tons on R-410A, in a 21 in cabinet that lines up with the furnace, whether it stands upright or lies on its side. We install it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
What it brings
This cased V-coil follows Arcoaire’s Power-V design: the headers are at the top and the microchannel coil is all aluminum. According to the manufacturer, this layout delivers the same or better SEER without resorting to a larger coil. The thermostatic expansion valve comes factory installed. The PBT condensate drain pan resists corrosion, and the 24-gauge cabinet is fully insulated. It installs in vertical upflow, vertical downflow or horizontal, which makes it useful in homes where the unit lies in the basement ceiling. At 34.4 lb (15.6 kg) operating weight, it is easy to handle, even when it has to be lifted up to the ceiling.
Preparing a replacement properly
A successful replacement comes down to the details. The outdoor air conditioner must use R-410A and its capacity must match the coil’s 3.5 tons. The refrigerant lines must also match the 3/8 in liquid and 7/8 in suction connections; if the lines in place are a different size or in poor condition, we plan to replace them. Finally, the airflow the blower must deliver is confirmed with the performance table in Arcoaire’s spec sheet before commissioning.
This model is designed for air conditioning only: Arcoaire states it does not pair with a heat pump. If you want to take advantage of the replacement to heat with the outdoor unit, we will present a complete central heat pump instead. Sold alone, the coil does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. It is available while supplies last.
Installation by AirGreen

Frequently asked questions
Will my current refrigerant lines work?
The coil connects with 3/8 in (liquid) and 7/8 in (suction) lines. We measure and inspect the lines in place; if they are not suitable, replacing them is included in the quote.
Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes. Arcoaire designs it as a multipoise coil: vertical upflow, vertical downflow or horizontal.
What airflow is needed?
We confirm it with the performance table in Arcoaire’s spec sheet for this model, then check that the furnace blower can deliver it before ordering.
Does it work with a heat pump?
No. The manufacturer limits this model to air conditioning. To heat with the outdoor unit, we offer a complete central heat pump.
What warranty does Arcoaire offer?
A 10-year parts limited warranty with timely registration, or 5 years without registration within 90 days of installation. Where the warranty cannot depend on registration, the 10-year period applies.
