More heat than cooling
The C22 9,000 BTU/h heats at a rated 10,000 BTU/h, and the 18,000 at 18,800.
01/07The C22 is CanAir’s R-410A wall unit for cooling, backup heat and the shoulder seasons. Six models, from 9,000 to 24,000 BTU/h, two of them 115 V. It heats down to -15°C; colder than that, backup heat takes over.

Pick a size:
Under 12,000 BTU/h: LogisVert requires an outdoor unit of at least 12,000 BTU/h nominal cooling capacity.
Under 12,000 BTU/h: LogisVert requires an outdoor unit of at least 12,000 BTU/h nominal cooling capacity.

SEER2, HSPF2 (region IV), heating ranges, sound levels and line lengths: CanAir brochure. LogisVert: Hydro-Québec’s list of October 8, 2026. AirGreen never changes an AHRI number.
A variable-speed heat pump adjusts its output to what the room needs. As long as the load stays above its minimum, it slows down instead of stopping and restarting. Tap a size to see its range, in cooling and heating, per the CanAir C22 brochure.
Minimum, rated and maximum capacities: CanAir C22 brochure, p. 7. The rated capacity is the one on the label; the range shows how far the compressor goes down and up.
The C22 heats from -15°C to 24°C, per the CanAir brochure. Colder than that, backup heat takes over: baseboards, furnace or another system. To heat all winter with the wall unit, look at the C28 or the 4C28.
The C22 comes in 115 V at 9,000 and 12,000 BTU/h. Same series, same size: here are the differences CanAir publishes, side by side.
| C22 9,000 BTU/h | 115 V | 230 V |
|---|---|---|
| SEER2 | 21.5 | 21.7 |
| EER2 | 12.5 | 12.6 |
| HSPF2 (Region IV) | 9.0 | 9.1 |
| Cooling range (BTU/h) | 2,650 – 10,300 | 2,900 – 10,200 |
| Heating range (BTU/h) | 2,700 – 10,500 | 2,400 – 10,900 |
| Indoor sound, low speed | 22 dB(A) | 24 dB(A) |
| Outdoor sound | 55 dB(A) | 54.5 dB(A) |
| Models | C22SCH09H11 C22SEH09H11 | C22SCH09H21 C22SEH09H21 |
In short: Almost a tie. The 230 V model is slightly more efficient (SEER2 21.7 vs 21.5) and the 115 V model is quieter at low speed (22 vs 24 dB(A)).
| C22 12,000 BTU/h | 115 V | 230 V |
|---|---|---|
| SEER2 | 20.8 | 21.4 |
| EER2 | 10.3 | 10.8 |
| HSPF2 (Region IV) | 8.7 | 9.1 |
| Cooling range (BTU/h) | 4,300 – 12,600 | 3,800 – 12,850 |
| Heating range (BTU/h) | 4,000 – 12,500 | 2,730 – 12,500 |
| Indoor sound, low speed | 26 dB(A) | 23 dB(A) |
| Outdoor sound | 53.5 dB(A) | 53.5 dB(A) |
| Models | C22SCH12H11 C22SEH12H11 | C22SCH12H21 C22SEH12H21 |
In short: The 230 V model comes out ahead: SEER2 21.4 vs 20.8, HSPF2 9.1 vs 8.7, and 23 dB(A) at low speed vs 26.

Pick a size, then a fan speed. The needle shows the indoor unit’s sound level published by CanAir; the outdoor unit is shown next to it.
Rule of thumb: 10 dB(A) more is heard as roughly twice as loud. dB(A) is weighted to follow how the ear hears.
Indoor and outdoor sound levels: CanAir C22 brochure, p. 7. Lowest figure in the series: 22 dB(A) (9,000 · 115 V, low speed).
Slide the line length and height difference: the tool compares your case with the limits published for each C22. Handy for a condo up high or a head upstairs.
Maximum length and height, 25 ft precharge and 0.16 oz/ft added charge (0.32 oz/ft on the 24,000): CanAir C22 brochure, p. 7. The real length is measured at the visit.
R-410A is the refrigerant of the C22 and C28. The 4C22 follows the same idea with R-454B, whose global warming potential (GWP) is about 4.5 times lower.
÷4.5 lower GWP going from R-410A to R-454B
R-454B is rated A2L: low toxicity, mildly flammable. The CanAir 4C22 brochure shows it (“A2L R-454B”, p. 5). It is installed following the rules for that class.
In daily use, nothing: the unit heats and cools the same way. The refrigerant matters mostly for the environment and for the technician who services it.
Global warming potential compares a gas with CO₂ over 100 years. A GWP of 466 means one kilo of R-454B equals 466 kilos of CO₂.
100-year GWP, IPCC Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) values: R-410A 2,088 (half R-32, half R-125); R-454B 466 (68.9% R-32, 31.1% R-1234yf). Refrigerant per series: CanAir brochures.
One family, four roles: two cold limits, two refrigerants.

The C22 9,000 BTU/h heats at a rated 10,000 BTU/h, and the 18,000 at 18,800.
01/07At 9,000 BTU/h, the 115 V version drops to 22 dB(A) at low speed, versus 24 for the 230 V.
02/07The C22 24,000 accepts 164 ft between the two units and an 82 ft height difference. The 9,000 and 12,000: 100 ft and 60 ft.
03/07The outdoor unit ships charged for 25 ft of line. Beyond that, 0.16 oz of refrigerant is added per foot (0.32 oz on the 24,000).
04/07C22 cooling range: from -15°C to 50°C outside (5 to 122°F), per the brochure.
05/07The two C22 9,000 BTU/h units are ENERGY STAR certified, without the cold climate mention. The 12,000, 18,000 and 24,000 are not in the ENERGY STAR database.
06/07The C22 24,000, per the brochure. Both 12,000 units are at 53.5 dB(A).

Down to -15°C, per the CanAir brochure (heating range from -15°C to 24°C). Below -15°C, another heat source is needed.
The 9,000 BTU/h units are below the 12,000 BTU/h minimum. The 12,000, 18,000 and 24,000 are not on Hydro-Québec’s list of October 8, 2026.
Both heat down to -15°C. The C22 uses R-410A and goes up to 24,000 BTU/h; the 4C22 uses R-454B and goes up to 18,000 BTU/h. Its brochure lists optional Wi-Fi; for the C22, we confirm in the quote.
At 9,000, barely: SEER2 21.5 vs 21.7, and it is quieter at low speed. At 12,000, the 230 V does better: SEER2 21.4 vs 20.8.
Yes, in 9,000 and 12,000 BTU/h. The 18,000 and 24,000 are 230 V.
The CanAir brochure lists 22 to 35 dB(A) indoors at the lowest speed, depending on size. The size table gives each model’s figure.
For residential systems sold since October 5, 2026: 10 years on the compressor and parts, and 6 years of limited labour (residential installation in Quebec), per the CanAir base warranty.
100 ft of line on the 9,000 and 12,000, 98 ft on the 18,000 and 164 ft on the 24,000, per the brochure.
