Quick facts
Six 4.5 kW stages to fine-tune the heat of a large hot water loop
What the BTH ULTRA 27 is
With its six 4.5 kW elements, Thermo 2000’s BTH ULTRA 27 reaches 27 kW at 240 V, or 92,124 BTU/h. It remains a wall-mounted boiler: 75 lb, 3 US gallons of water and 1 1/4 in female NPT connections. The T2 UltraSmart controller runs its elements over six stages and draws only the output the loop needs.
This size is aimed at buildings with a significant heating demand: a large home with radiant floors on several levels, an apartment building sharing a hot water loop, a business or an institutional space. Thermo 2000 presents it for these three uses, in new construction as well as replacement, and as backup for a heat pump, geothermal or solar system.
Why six stages make a difference
A large loop almost never calls for full output. In October, a few kilowatts are enough; in January, demand climbs. With six 4.5 kW steps, the boiler follows these changes closely instead of jumping abruptly from one large stage to the next. The supplied outdoor sensor lets the controller set the water temperature on one of three curves (MIN, STD, MAX), and warm weather shutdown rests it when heat is not needed.
The controller also offers presets by distribution system, a backlit display, Boost mode, pump purge and a 24 V supply for the thermostat and accessories. The operating range is 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C).
What to plan electrically
At 240 V single phase, the BTH ULTRA 27 draws 112.5 A. Thermo 2000 lists two protection options: two 80 A breakers or a single 150 A breaker. The wire gauge is determined with the installation manual based on the option chosen. At 208 V, output is multiplied by 0.75. We validate these points before proposing this size.
What AirGreen’s installation covers
The free on-site estimate lets us assess the loop, the electrical service and the wall location. You then receive a written quote. Our technicians install the boiler, connect it to the loop and the electrical circuit, fill and purge the system, then set the preset and temperature curve for the building. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 15 years and electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work.

Frequently asked questions
What does “2 x 80 A or 150 A” mean for the breaker?
Thermo 2000 lists two protection options for this model: two 80 A breakers or a single 150 A breaker. We choose the option and the wire gauge with the installation manual and based on your panel.
Why six elements?
Six 4.5 kW elements over six stages let the T2 UltraSmart controller adjust output in 4.5 kW steps, based on the loop’s demand.
What water connections are needed?
The boiler connects with 1 1/4 in female NPT fittings on the return and supply. Two reducers are supplied.
Can it back up a geothermal system?
Yes. Thermo 2000 presents the BTH ULTRA as backup for a heat pump, a geothermal system or a solar system.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
15 years on the tank and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components.
