Quick facts
29 kW in six steps for homes that need a lot of heat
A residential boiler for large hot-water loops
The BTH ULTRA 29 is the 29 kW residential version of Thermo 2000’s wall-mounted boiler. It runs on 240 V single phase and delivers 98,948 BTU/h according to the manufacturer. What sets it apart is its elements: four of 5 kW and two of 4.5 kW, split into six stages.
It suits large homes heated by hot-water radiators or baseboards, radiant floors across a whole house or an addition, and the replacement of a high-output electric boiler. Think of a house in Laval with a radiant floor in the basement and radiators upstairs: that is the kind of loop for which a model of this size is considered.
Power and water: what to plan for in a Quebec home
A 29 kW boiler weighs heavily on the electrical service. Thermo 2000 lists a 2 x 80 A or a 175 A breaker at 240 V; conductor size is then set according to the electrical code. In some buildings supplied at 208 V, output drops: the manufacturer says to multiply the kW by 0.75 and the amps by 0.867. We run these checks before recommending the unit.
On the hydronic side, the boiler holds 3 US gal of water, connects with 1 1/4 in female NPT fittings and works up to 30 psi (207 kPa), over a range of 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C). Wall-mounted and compact, it weighs 75 lb.
Six stages and an outdoor sensor
The T2 UltraSmart controller turns stages on as demand calls for them instead of starting full output at once. With the supplied outdoor sensor, it adjusts the water temperature to the weather, along three curves (MIN, STD and MAX), and stops heating in mild weather. It also offers presets by distribution system, a Boost mode and a pump purge. Finally, Thermo 2000 presents the BTH ULTRA as backup for a heat pump.
Installation by AirGreen
The on-site estimate is free: we look at the panel, the loop, the emitters and, where applicable, the old boiler’s nameplate. You then receive a written quote that specifies the boiler and the parts to plan for, including the circulator and the expansion tank, which are not on the list of supplied items.
Our technicians mount the boiler, install the 30 psi relief valve, drain valve and temperature and pressure gauge, connect the piping and the electrical circuit, fill and purge the loop, then set up the controller with you. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years (parts). AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical).

Frequently asked questions
Can my house take a 29 kW boiler?
It depends on the electrical service. Thermo 2000 lists a 2 x 80 A or a 175 A breaker at 240 V. We look at the panel and the existing load during the free estimate.
Why six stages?
The six elements (4 x 5 kW and 2 x 4.5 kW) turn on in steps as demand calls for them: the boiler does not run at full output when the house does not need it.
Does it work on 208 V?
Thermo 2000 publishes factors for 208 V: output in kW is multiplied by 0.75 and current by 0.867. In a 208 V building, we check whether the resulting output is enough.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
15 years on the tank and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components (parts), in Canada and the United States.
What comes with the boiler?
A 30 psi relief valve, a drain valve, two reducers, the outdoor sensor and a temperature and pressure gauge.
