Quick facts
33 kW on 240 V for a home heated by radiators or through the floor
The BTH ULTRA 33 at a glance
Thermo 2000 builds the residential BTH ULTRA from 12 to 36 kW on 240 V single phase. The 33 kW model sits near the top of that range: 112,596 BTU/h according to the manufacturer, with three 5 kW elements and three 6 kW elements controlled in six stages. The boiler stays wall-mounted and compact, at 75 lb for 3 US gal of water.
From an older home’s radiators to radiant floors
Many older homes in Montreal are still heated by large hot-water radiators. When the boiler needs replacing, the BTH ULTRA 33 keeps the loop in place and brings modern controls. Its temperature range, 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C), covers radiators as well as radiant floors, and its 1 1/4 in female NPT connections tie into the piping with the two supplied reducers.
The T2 UltraSmart controller adapts heating to the season. With the supplied outdoor sensor, it sets the water temperature to the weather along three curves (MIN, STD and MAX) and pauses heating in mild weather. It modulates output based on demand and offers presets by distribution system, a Boost mode and a pump purge. Two limits, automatic at 208 °F (98 °C) and manual reset at 227 °F (108 °C), protect against overheating. Thermo 2000 also presents the BTH ULTRA as backup for a heat pump or a solar system.
What the electrical service needs
At 33 kW, power is the first point to confirm. Thermo 2000 lists 137.5 A at 240 V, 2 x 100 A breakers and a suggested wire gauge of Cu 2 x 4 or Al 2 x 2. In a building supplied at 208 V, output decreases: the manufacturer says to multiply the kW by 0.75 and the amps by 0.867. We run that calculation with you during the estimate.
How the installation goes
We come out at no charge to look at the panel, the loop and the emitters. The written quote specifies the boiler and the components that are not on the list of supplied items, such as the circulator and the expansion tank.
During installation, our technicians remove the old unit where applicable, mount the BTH ULTRA 33 on the wall, connect the piping and the circuit, install the 30 psi relief valve, the drain valve and the temperature and pressure gauge, then fill and purge the loop. They connect the outdoor sensor and choose the curve with you. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years (parts).

Frequently asked questions
Is this boiler suited to existing hot-water radiators?
Thermo 2000 lists radiators among the BTH ULTRA’s uses, and its temperature range runs from 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C). During the estimate, we check the required output and the condition of the existing piping.
What electrical connection is needed?
Thermo 2000 lists 137.5 A at 240 V, 2 x 100 A breakers and a suggested wire gauge of Cu 2 x 4 or Al 2 x 2.
What is warm weather shutdown?
A function of the T2 UltraSmart controller that, using the supplied outdoor sensor, pauses heating when it is mild enough outside.
What is the manufacturer’s warranty?
Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years (parts), in Canada and the United States.
What does your installation include?
Wall mounting, piping, the electrical connection, the supplied relief valve, drain valve and temperature and pressure gauge, then filling, purging, commissioning and setting the curve.
