Quick facts
The most the BTH ULTRA offers on single phase: 36 kW on a 240 V circuit
The top of the residential range
The residential BTH ULTRA runs from 12 to 36 kW on 240 V single phase. This model sits at the top: six identical 6 kW elements, controlled in six stages, for 122,832 BTU/h according to Thermo 2000. Despite that output, it remains a 75 lb wall-mounted boiler that holds 3 US gal of water.
It is meant for owners whose hot-water loop needs a lot of heat but whose building has no three-phase power: large homes with radiant floors on every level, garages and workshops heated through the slab, small commercial buildings. Thermo 2000 lists residential, commercial and institutional applications for this series.
Two project examples
A large home on the South Shore heated through the floor in the basement, on the ground floor and in the attached garage: the loop is long and demand is high in deep cold. Or a small clinic set up in an older building in Longueuil, supplied at 240 V, whose hot-water radiators stay in place. In both cases, the BTH ULTRA 36 makes it possible to keep a single wall-mounted boiler.
The condition is the electrical service. Thermo 2000 lists 150 A at 240 V, 2 x 100 A breakers and a suggested wire gauge of Cu 2 x 4 or Al 2 x 2. At 208 V, the manufacturer says to multiply the kW by 0.75 and the amps by 0.867. We check these points before recommending the unit.
What the T2 UltraSmart controller does
The controller raises output in steps based on demand. The supplied outdoor sensor lets it set the water temperature to the weather, along three curves (MIN, STD and MAX), and stop heating in mild weather. Add a backlit display, presets by distribution system, a Boost mode and a pump purge. Two overheating limits, automatic at 208 °F (98 °C) and manual reset at 227 °F (108 °C), complete the safety devices, along with the supplied 30 psi relief valve.
Our installation, from survey to commissioning
The on-site estimate is free. We survey the panel, the loop and the emitters, then give you a written quote that specifies the boiler and the parts outside the list of supplied items, such as the circulator and the expansion tank. Our technicians then mount the boiler, connect the piping in 1 1/4 in NPT and the electrical circuit, fill and purge the loop, then set up the controller. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years (parts).

The largest residential size of the BTH ULTRA
With six 6 kW elements, the 240 V BTH ULTRA 36 serves homes and small buildings whose hot-water loop needs the most heat, without moving to three-phase power.
- Large homes with radiant floors on every level
- Attached garage or workshop heated by a radiant slab
- Small commercial buildings on 240 V single-phase power
- Electric backup for a heat pump or a geothermal system
Specifications

What to know before installing
- 240 V single-phase, 60 Hz power: 150 A, 2 x 100 A breakers and suggested wire Cu 2 x 4 / Al 2 x 2, per Thermo 2000. The electrical service must carry this load on top of the rest of the building.
- At 208 V, output is calculated with the manufacturer’s factors: kW x 0.75 and A x 0.867.
- Maximum working pressure of 30 psi (207 kPa); temperature range of 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C).
- The circulator and expansion tank are not among the items Thermo 2000 supplies: the quote specifies them.
- 30 psi relief valve
- Drain valve
- 2 reducers
- Outdoor sensor
- Temperature and pressure gauge

Frequently asked questions
Why the 240 V version rather than a three-phase one?
Because most homes and many small buildings only have 240 V single-phase power. The BTH ULTRA series also comes in 480 V and 600 V three-phase for buildings that have it.
Is my electrical service large enough?
The BTH ULTRA 36 draws 150 A at 240 V with 2 x 100 A breakers, per Thermo 2000. We compare these values with your panel’s capacity and the existing load during the free estimate.
How much heat does it deliver?
36 kW, or 122,832 BTU/h according to Thermo 2000, spread over six 6 kW elements.
Is the outdoor sensor supplied?
Yes, along with the 30 psi relief valve, the drain valve, two reducers and the temperature and pressure gauge.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
15 years on the tank and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components (parts), in Canada and the United States.
