LG PAG-HS wind baffles attach to the outdoor unit of an LG heat pump to block wind from the coil and the fan. They are used when the unit has to cool in cold weather: icy wind makes the system pressure drop and can shut down cooling. LG sorts them into two types, the front baffle and the rear / side baffle, installed together.
Cooling all year long
A server room, a commercial kitchen or a technical room often needs cooling in January. On the LUU488HV unit, LG rates cooling down to -4 °F (-20 °C) with the wind baffles alone, and down to -40 °F (-40 °C) by adding the PQCA0 control kit. According to LG, this kit is not compatible with LGRED units or with the Prestige line.
Nine models, two types
- Front baffle: PAG-HS0, PAG-HS5, PAG-HS6, PAG-HS8.
- Rear / side baffle: PAG-HS1, PAG-HS2, PAG-HS3, PAG-HS4, PAG-HS7.
LG pairs them according to the outdoor unit’s casing, for example PAG-HS4 and PAG-HS5 for the LUU488HV. Small wall units generally use the PAG-HS0 and PAG-HS3 pair.
Before ordering
Note the outdoor unit’s model number from its nameplate. The wind baffle must leave the clearances specified in the LG manual around the unit.

What to know before installing
- The right number depends on your outdoor unit’s cabinet: send us its model number.
- LG pairs a front and a rear / side guard, for example PAG-HS4 and PAG-HS5 on the LUU488HV.
- Keep the clearances around the unit shown in the LG manual.
- Per LG, the PQCA0 kit is not compatible with LGRED units or the Prestige lineup.

Frequently asked questions
Which guard fits my LG unit?
It depends on the outdoor unit cabinet. For example, LG specifies PAG-HS4 and PAG-HS5 for the LUU488HV. Send us your unit’s model number and we confirm the pair before ordering.
Does the guard help in heating?
No. LG specifies it for cooling in cold weather, when wind across the outdoor coil disrupts operation.
Do I also need the PQCA0 kit?
Not always. Guards alone extend cooling down to -20 °C on the models LG lists; the PQCA0 kit takes it to -40 °C, except on LGRED and Prestige units.
Can you install it?
