Turn your electric furnace into a 2-ton central heat pump
A house heated by a forced-air electric furnace already has half of a central heat pump: the blower and the ductwork. What remains is an outdoor unit and an indoor coil. The Arcoaire EAA4X24L14A A-coil plays that role for a 2-ton (24,000 BTU/h nominal) R-410A system. Arcoaire’s brochure declares it compatible with a heat pump as well as an air conditioner. This model is available while supplies last.
Why the coil matters as much as the outdoor unit
In summer, the coil absorbs heat and humidity from the air passing through the furnace. In winter, with a heat pump, the cycle reverses and the same coil returns the heat captured outdoors to the ductwork. The electric furnace stays in place and takes over during deep cold. A poorly matched coil limits the whole system, which is why we check the outdoor unit before ordering: Arcoaire does not publish a matching list for this model. For the same reason, a coil sold alone has no efficiency rating of its own and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
A factory-installed thermostatic expansion valve
The metering device doses the refrigerant entering the coil. On the EAA4X24L14A, it is an R-410A thermostatic expansion valve (TXV), installed at the factory. It responds to the temperature at the coil outlet to adjust the refrigerant flow. The main tubes and the fins are aluminum, with copper stubs for brazing on site. The connections measure 3/8 in for the liquid line and 5/8 in for the suction line.
A townhouse, a 14-3/16 in furnace
In townhouses and semi-detached homes in Laval or Longueuil, the electric furnace is often compact. This coil is designed for a 14-3/16 in wide cabinet, according to Arcoaire’s nomenclature, and installs vertically, in upflow or downflow. Since it is uncased, it fits in the plenum or in a suitable casing, not included. During the estimate, we measure the plenum using the spec sheet dimensions (A 17-3/4 in, B 13 in) and state in the quote whether a transition or casing is required.

Is this coil suitable for a heat pump?
Yes. Arcoaire’s brochure declares the EAA4X series compatible with an air conditioner or a heat pump. The outdoor unit must run on R-410A.
What is a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV)?
It is the valve that meters refrigerant into the coil. It responds to the temperature at the coil outlet to adjust the flow. On this model, Arcoaire installs it at the factory for R-410A.
Does the coil come with a cabinet?
No, it is uncased. It fits in the furnace plenum or in a suitable casing, which we include in the quote if needed.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not sold alone. If the project includes a complete heat pump, the quote specifies whether the proposed system qualifies.
What is the manufacturer’s warranty?
Parts: 10 years with registration within 90 days, otherwise 5 years, for owner-occupied residential use. Where the law prohibits requiring registration, Arcoaire applies the 10-year warranty automatically.
