A leaking evaporator coil is quickly noticed: the house no longer cools down, the outdoor unit runs non-stop, and refrigerant has to be topped up from one season to the next. When the rest of the system is in good condition, replacing the coil often solves the situation. The Arcoaire EAA4X36L21A A-coil suits this job on an electric furnace or air handler 21 in wide. It is a 3-ton (36,000 BTU/h nominal) R-410A model, available while supplies last.
Replacing the coil alone, or the whole system
We recommend a coil-only replacement when the outdoor unit runs on R-410A, matches the 3-ton size and still has good years ahead of it. If it is also approaching the end of its service life, the quote presents both options. The same coil also suits a first air conditioning project on a 21 in furnace that has never had one.
What the EAA4X36L21A offers
According to Arcoaire’s nomenclature, this coil is designed for a 21 in cabinet: it matches furnaces and air handlers of the same width. It installs vertically, in upflow or downflow. Its R-410A thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) is factory-installed, its main tubes and fins are aluminum, with copper stubs for brazing, and its connections measure 3/8 in for the liquid line and 3/4 in for the suction line. It weighs 37.5 lb (17 kg) for shipping. The manufacturer’s brochure declares it compatible with an air conditioner as well as a heat pump.
What to know before ordering
This coil is uncased: it fits in the plenum or in a suitable casing, not included. It is not presented for horizontal installation. Sold alone, it has no efficiency rating of its own and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. Finally, Arcoaire does not publish a matching list for this model, so we check the outdoor unit and the furnace using the spec sheet dimensions (A 23 in, B 19-13/16 in) before placing the order.

Can I replace only the coil?
Yes, if the outdoor unit runs on R-410A, its capacity matches the 3-ton size and it is in good condition. We check this during the estimate, before recommending a coil-only replacement.
How does this model differ from another 3-ton coil in the series?
By its target width. The EAA4X series offers some sizes in more than one width; this one is designed for a 21 in cabinet, according to Arcoaire’s nomenclature.
Does it work with a heat pump?
Yes. Arcoaire’s brochure declares the series compatible with an air conditioner or a heat pump. The outdoor unit must run on R-410A.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not sold alone. If the project also includes a new outdoor unit, the quote specifies whether the complete proposed system qualifies.
What warranty does the manufacturer offer?
Arcoaire covers parts for 10 years with registration within 90 days, or 5 years without registration, for owner-occupied residential use. Where the law prohibits requiring registration, the 10-year warranty applies automatically.
