Quick facts
A 2.5-ton coil that goes above or below the furnace
Not every furnace blows upward. In a house without a basement, or when the furnace is installed in a ground-floor closet, the air often travels down to ducts under the floor. The Arcoaire EAA4X30L14A A-coil adapts to both situations: Arcoaire designs it for vertical installation in upflow or downflow. It is a 2.5-ton (30,000 BTU/h nominal) R-410A coil, available while supplies last.
Upflow or downflow, in practice
In upflow, the furnace is in the basement and the coil sits above it, in the supply plenum. In downflow, it is the reverse: the coil sits below the furnace, just before the ducts. In both cases, it is uncased, so delivered without a cabinet; it fits in the plenum or in a suitable casing, not included. According to Arcoaire’s nomenclature, it is designed for a 14-3/16 in wide cabinet, and the spec sheet dimensions (A 21-7/8 in, B 13 in) help us validate the available space. It is not presented for horizontal installation.
What is inside
The metering device is an R-410A TXV, installed at the factory. The main tubes and the fins are aluminum, with copper stubs for connection; the refrigerant lines are brazed at 3/8 in for the liquid line and 5/8 in for the suction line. The coil weighs 33.0 lb (15 kg) for shipping. The manufacturer’s brochure declares it compatible with an air conditioner as well as a heat pump.
Performance, grant and matching
The coil is only one part of the system. Sold alone, it has no efficiency rating of its own and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. Arcoaire does not publish a matching list for this model, so we check the capacity and refrigerant of the outdoor unit, as well as the furnace or air handler, before ordering. If you move to a heat pump, the same coil also distributes heat in winter, and the electric furnace tops up during deep cold.
How AirGreen installs it
A family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). After a free estimate and a written quote, we set the coil in the right airflow direction, braze the lines, pressure-test and pull a vacuum, then connect the drain. In downflow, we place the trap so it stays accessible for service. Commissioning is done with the outdoor unit. We serve Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and the North Shore.
Whether your furnace blows down or up, ask for your free estimate while this model is in stock. Financing is available.
Above or below the furnace
The EAA4X30L14A is set in the plenum of a 14-3/16 in wide electric furnace or air handler: above it in upflow, below it in downflow. It completes an R-410A outdoor unit, air conditioner or heat pump.
- Downflow furnaces installed on the ground floor, with ducts under the floor
- Upflow furnaces in the basement
- 2.5-ton central system, air conditioner or heat pump
- Replacing an R-410A A-coil of the same width

What to know before installing
- Available while supplies last: Arcoaire’s website now features the next generation of coils.
- Sold alone: does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. The coil has no efficiency rating of its own; performance depends on the matched outdoor unit and air handler.
- Uncased: it fits in the plenum or in a suitable casing, not included.
- Vertical position only (upflow or downflow), for a 14-3/16 in wide cabinet.
- R-410A: the outdoor unit must use the same refrigerant. Arcoaire does not publish a matching list for this model; we check compatibility before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Can it be installed below the furnace?
Yes. In downflow, the coil sits below the furnace, in the supply plenum. Arcoaire designs it for both directions, in the vertical position.
Can it be installed horizontally?
Arcoaire presents it for vertical installation only, in upflow or downflow. For a unit lying on its side, we offer a coil designed for the horizontal position.
Does it work with a heat pump?
Yes. Arcoaire’s brochure declares the series compatible with an air conditioner or a heat pump. The outdoor unit must run on R-410A.
Why "while supplies last"?
Arcoaire now features the next generation of coils. The EAA4X units still available are offered as long as they last; after that, we will offer you another model of equivalent size.
What warranty does Arcoaire offer?
A limited parts warranty of 10 years with registration within 90 days, or 5 years without registration, for owner-occupied residential use. Where the law prohibits requiring registration, the 10-year warranty applies automatically.
