Quick facts
Five tons above a large electric furnace: the top of the EAA4X series
Arcoaire’s EAA4X series runs from 1.5 to 5 tons. The EAA4X60L24A A-coil sits at the top: 5 tons (60,000 BTU/h nominal) on R-410A, for electric furnaces and air handlers 24-1/2 in wide, according to the manufacturer’s nomenclature. It is the indoor part of a large central system, air conditioner or heat pump. It is available while supplies last, as Arcoaire now features the next generation of coils.
What you get
The R-410A thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) is factory-installed. The main tubes and fins are aluminum, with copper stubs for brazing the 3/8 in (liquid) and 7/8 in (suction) lines. The coil weighs 57.0 lb (26 kg) for shipping and installs vertically, in upflow or downflow. Arcoaire’s brochure declares it compatible with an air conditioner as well as a heat pump.
The plenum, where it all happens
The EAA4X60L24A is uncased. It does not come in a cabinet ready to bolt onto the furnace: it fits in the plenum, or in a suitable casing, not included. For a coil of this size, the existing plenum often has to be adapted. We measure the space using the spec sheet dimensions (A 31-1/16 in, B 23-5/16 in), then fabricate or modify the plenum so that all the furnace air passes through the coil, with sealed joints and access to the drain. This sheet metal work is part of the quote.
Matching a 5-ton system properly
This size is justified by a load calculation of the house, done during the estimate. The coil must then be matched with an R-410A outdoor unit of the same capacity; Arcoaire does not publish a matching list for this model, so we check the unit before ordering. Sold alone, the coil has no efficiency rating of its own and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. With a heat pump, it also distributes heat in winter, and the electric furnace tops up in deep cold.
AirGreen takes care of it
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. Our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 covers ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work: the plenum sheet metal, the refrigerant circuit and the connections are done by the same team. After a free estimate and a written quote, we set the coil, braze the lines, pressure-test and pull a vacuum, connect the drain and commission the system. We serve Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore.

The top of the EAA4X series, for large electric furnaces
The EAA4X60L24A is set in the plenum of an electric furnace or air handler 24-1/2 in wide. It completes a 5-ton R-410A outdoor unit, for air conditioning or a heat pump.
- Large houses whose load calculation calls for 5 tons
- 5-ton central heat pump on a 24-1/2 in electric furnace
- Replacing an R-410A A-coil of the same size
- Upflow or downflow installations

What to know before installing
- Available while supplies last. Arcoaire now features the next generation of coils on its website.
- Sold alone: does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. The coil has no efficiency rating of its own; performance depends on the matched outdoor unit and air handler.
- Uncased: it fits in the plenum or in a suitable casing, not included. The existing plenum often has to be adapted for a coil of this size.
- Designed for a 24-1/2 in wide cabinet, in the vertical position only.
- R-410A: the outdoor unit must use the same refrigerant. Arcoaire does not publish a matching list for this model; we check compatibility before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Does the plenum need to be rebuilt?
It depends on the existing plenum. The coil is uncased: it fits in the plenum or in a suitable casing. We measure the space using the spec sheet dimensions (A 31-1/16 in, B 23-5/16 in), and the quote specifies the sheet metal work required.
Does my house really need 5 tons?
Only a calculation of the cooling and heating load can tell. We do it during the free estimate, before recommending this size.
Does it work with a heat pump?
Yes. Arcoaire’s brochure declares the series compatible with an air conditioner or a heat pump. The outdoor unit must run on R-410A.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not when it is sold alone. If the project also includes a new outdoor unit, the quote specifies whether the complete proposed system qualifies.
How long will this model remain available?
While supplies last: Arcoaire now features the next generation of coils. Once stock runs out, we will offer you another model of equivalent size.
