Quick facts
A 30 in Bosch coil for systems that move more air
The Bosch BMAC4248BNTF is a cased evaporator coil 17½ in wide and 30 in high. Bosch publishes a maximum airflow of 1,800 CFM in upflow for this model, with a 7/8 in vapor line. It is multi-position and compatible with both air conditioning and heat pumps. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and on the South Shore.
What it does and which homes it suits
The coil goes in the airstream, above, below or beside an electric furnace or air handler. Refrigerant from the outdoor unit flows through it: in summer, it cools the house air; in winter, matched with a heat pump, it warms it. In its matching tables, Bosch lists it with two outdoor units of its BOVA 2.0 heat pump, the BOVA-36HDN1-M20G and the BOVA-60HDN1-M20G. The choice between them depends on what the house needs, and that match sets the capacity: Bosch does not publish a nominal tonnage for this exact coil.
It suits multi-storey houses well, for example a North Shore two-storey home whose electric furnace, in the basement, serves the ground floor and the bedroom floor. It also suits owners of a Bosch system replacing a coil of the same model.
Three checks before installing it
- Available height. The cabinet is 30 in (762 mm) high. Above an upright furnace, this height comes on top of the cabinet’s own, under the basement ceiling.
- The vapor line. The coil connects with a 3/8 in liquid line and a 7/8 in vapor line. If the existing line has another diameter, we adapt or replace it.
- The side of a horizontal installation. Bosch publishes 1,800 CFM in horizontal left, but 1,500 CFM in horizontal right, and 1,700 CFM in downflow. When the cabinet lies horizontally, the chosen side matters.
Installation by our technicians
We start with a free on-site estimate to measure the cabinet, the space and the lines, and to confirm the outdoor unit. Since Bosch has discontinued this model, we also check availability before scheduling the work.
On the day, our technicians set the coil in the chosen position, seal the cabinet to the air handler and the ducts, and connect the condensate drain to the multi-position drain pan provided by Bosch. They then braze the lines, pull a vacuum, adjust the charge and commission the system. Bosch requires a TXV at the indoor coil to match its outdoor units; its setting is part of our start-up checks. The coil is all aluminum, a construction Bosch associates with better corrosion resistance.
A reminder: sold alone, a coil has no efficiency rating of its own and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.

A 30 in coil for systems that move more air
The BMAC4248BNTF sits on an electric furnace or air handler of matching width. In its matching tables, Bosch lists it with two outdoor units of its BOVA 2.0 heat pump: the BOVA-36HDN1-M20G and the BOVA-60HDN1-M20G.
- Multi-storey houses served by a single electric furnace
- Matching with a Bosch BOVA 2.0 heat pump (BOVA-36HDN1-M20G or BOVA-60HDN1-M20G)
- Replacing an existing BMAC4248BNTF coil
- Adding air conditioning to an electric furnace of the same width

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. The coil has no efficiency rating on its own; performance depends on the matched outdoor unit and cabinet.
- 7/8 in vapor connection: an existing line of another diameter must be adapted or replaced.
- In horizontal right, the published maximum airflow is 1,500 CFM, versus 1,800 CFM in horizontal left: the installation side matters.
- Allow 30 in of height for the cabinet, on top of the unit it sits on.
- Bosch does not publish a nominal tonnage for this exact model, and has discontinued it: match and availability are confirmed before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Which outdoor unit should go with this coil?
Bosch lists the BMAC4248BNTF with two outdoor units of its BOVA 2.0 heat pump: the BOVA-36HDN1-M20G and the BOVA-60HDN1-M20G. Bosch does not publish a nominal tonnage for this exact coil; we choose the outdoor unit based on what the house needs, then confirm the match.
Are my current refrigerant lines suitable?
The coil connects with a 3/8 in liquid line and a 7/8 in vapor line. During the estimate, we check the diameter and condition of the existing lines; if needed, we adapt or replace them.
Does the side of a horizontal installation matter?
Yes. Bosch publishes a maximum airflow of 1,800 CFM in horizontal left, but 1,500 CFM in horizontal right. In upflow the maximum is 1,800 CFM, and 1,700 CFM in downflow.
Does it work with a heat pump?
Yes. Bosch presents it as compatible with air conditioning and heat pumps, and requires a TXV at the indoor coil to match its outdoor units.
