Quick facts
The 24½ in Bosch coil for wide cabinets
A wide electric furnace or air handler calls for a coil of the same width. The Bosch BMAC4248DNTF meets that need: a cased evaporator coil 24½ in wide and 30 in high, multi-position, compatible with both air conditioning and heat pumps according to Bosch. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
Who this model is for
The BMAC4248DNTF is worth considering when the existing cabinet is 24½ in wide. When the coil has the same width as the cabinet, it connects directly, with no transition piece narrowing the air path. It suits owners of a Bosch system replacing a coil of the same model, and those adding air conditioning or a heat pump to an electric furnace of that width.
Bosch designed it for its BOVA 2.0 heat pump. In its matching tables, it appears with two outdoor units, the BOVA-36HDN1-M20G and the BOVA-60HDN1-M20G. Bosch does not publish a nominal tonnage for this exact coil: the actual capacity depends on the outdoor unit selected, and we choose it based on what the house needs.
Horizontal, on either side
In many South Shore homes, the basement is finished and the heating equipment ends up lying in a ceiling or tucked into a mechanical room under the stairs. The side the air comes from then depends on the layout of the rooms, not on a choice. The BMAC4248DNTF has an advantage here: Bosch publishes the same maximum airflow, 1,800 CFM, in horizontal left as in horizontal right, as well as in upflow. Only downflow is published lower, at 1,700 CFM. The connection side can therefore follow the layout of the space.
Bosch provides a multi-position drain pan that meets most installations, and an all-aluminum coil designed to resist corrosion.
How we install it
The project starts with a free on-site estimate. We measure the cabinet and the space, note the airflow direction and check the refrigerant lines: this coil needs a 3/8 in liquid line and a 7/8 in vapor line. We then confirm the match with the outdoor unit and the availability of the coil, since Bosch has discontinued this model. You receive a written quote before the work begins.
Once the coil is set in the chosen position, we secure and seal the cabinet on the air handler, then reseal the duct connections. The condensate drain is connected to the pan, the lines are brazed and the circuit is evacuated before charging. Last step: commissioning, during which we check the TXV, a component Bosch requires at the indoor coil to match its outdoor units.
Good to know: sold alone, a coil has no efficiency rating of its own and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.

A coil for wide electric furnaces and air handlers
At 24½ in wide, the BMAC4248DNTF connects to electric furnaces and air handlers of matching width. Bosch presents it as compatible with air conditioning and heat pumps, and lists it with the BOVA-36HDN1-M20G and BOVA-60HDN1-M20G outdoor units of its BOVA 2.0 heat pump.
- Cabinets 24½ in wide, with no transition piece
- Horizontal installations, on either side
- Replacing an existing BMAC4248DNTF coil
- Matching with a Bosch BOVA 2.0 heat pump

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. The coil has no efficiency rating on its own; performance depends on the matched outdoor unit and cabinet.
- In downflow, the published maximum airflow is 1,700 CFM.
- Bosch does not publish a nominal tonnage for this exact model: capacity depends on the outdoor unit, chosen and confirmed before ordering.
- 7/8 in vapor connection and 3/8 in liquid connection; Bosch requires a TXV at the indoor coil for its matches.
- Discontinued by Bosch: we confirm availability before scheduling the installation.

Frequently asked questions
My electric furnace is narrower: does this coil fit?
This coil’s cabinet is 24½ in wide. On a narrower cabinet, a transition piece would be needed; a coil of the same width as the cabinet is generally preferable. We measure your equipment before recommending a model.
Can it be installed horizontally on the right side?
Yes. Bosch publishes the same maximum airflow, 1,800 CFM, in horizontal left and horizontal right. The connection side can therefore follow the layout of your mechanical room.
Which outdoor unit should it be matched with?
Bosch lists it with two outdoor units of its BOVA 2.0 heat pump: the BOVA-36HDN1-M20G and the BOVA-60HDN1-M20G. Bosch does not publish a nominal tonnage for this coil; we choose the unit based on what the house needs.
Is the coil compatible with a heat pump?
Yes. Bosch presents it as compatible with air conditioning and heat pumps, and requires a TXV at the indoor coil to match its outdoor units.
