A Montreal triplex whose units share the same radiator loop, a Laval office heated by a radiant floor, a large North Shore house: these buildings need a boiler with some muscle. The Conforto AT2045 delivers 20 kW at 240 V, or 68,200 BTU/h according to the manufacturer, while remaining a wall-mounted unit of about 70 lb (32 kg) as shipped.
Its four 5,000 W elements come on one by one, in four stages, and the controller alternates the one that starts first. An immersion sensor at the heat exchanger outlet controls the stages and prevents short cycling.
Residential or commercial use: what Conforto provides
Conforto’s limited lifetime warranty covers indoor residential use in Canada: 5 years on the heat exchanger and the components installed by the manufacturer, then the heat exchanger at no charge for the first 20 years and prorated after that. For commercial use, the manufacturer provides 2 years on parts and 10 years on the heat exchanger. In both cases, yearly maintenance is required, and labour and shipping are excluded.
How it fits the building
The starting point is electricity. Conforto lists a minimum circuit ampacity of 111.7 A and maximum protection of 125 A, at 240 V single phase. In a plex or a commercial space, the electrical service already serves many other loads: we assess it before recommending this size, and the quote clearly states whether an upgrade is needed.
On the water side, the boiler connects with 1 1/4 in NPT fittings and requires a minimum flow of 6.8 gpm for a 20 °F ΔT. The controller manages a heating setpoint, a domestic hot-water setpoint with priority for an indirect water heater, freeze protection, and inputs for a flow switch, a low-water device and load management by the electricity provider.

The AT2045 heats a larger hydronic loop: radiators on several floors, a large radiant floor or a commercial space. Conforto sets separate warranty terms for commercial use.
