Quick facts
The Gree electric heat element for the FLEXX R32 air handler cabinet is the original backup heat for the FLEXX ULTRA R32 and FLEXX ECO R32 central heat pumps. It installs in the cabinet, through the access panels, and heats the air when the central heat pump can no longer keep up, during a defrost or as emergency heat.
Backup heat designed for Québec winters
In extreme cold, a heat pump loses capacity. The element closes the gap without changing equipment. Gree offers it in 6, 9, 10, 12, 15 and 20 kW (rated output at 240 V). Each element has its own built-in breaker. Gree describes the LYQ-08 models with a nickel-chrome element on ceramic modules, a thermal fuse, a temperature controller, a relay and a 30, 45 or 60 A breaker.
The right element for your cabinet
- LYQ-08-F (6 kW): all FLEXX R32 cabinets, single power supply.
- LYQ-08-G (9 kW) and 21-4216-03 (10 kW): from 24,000 BTU/h.
- LYQ-08-H (12 kW) and 21-4217-01 (15 kW): from 36,000 BTU/h, and FLEXX ECO 30,000 BTU/h.
- 21-4228-01 (20 kW): from 36,000 BTU/h.
Wiring
According to Gree’s sheet, the 9 and 12 kW elements require two power supplies. Each element needs a circuit sized according to Gree’s data and the electrical code. Shut off all power sources before opening the cabinet. Send us your cabinet’s model number: we confirm the element before ordering.
