EHKMC electric heater kits are the auxiliary heat for D5FUAA air handlers, from 18,000 to 60,000 BTU/h. Installed in the air handler, the kit tops up the central heat pump when it needs extra heat. Six outputs are available, from 5 to 25 kW, at 208/230 V, with built-in circuit breakers.
The right output for each air handler size
The manufacturer publishes a selection table: each output is allowed with certain air handler sizes only.
- 5 kW: 18K to 36K
- 8 kW: 18K to 48K
- 10 kW: 18K to 60K
- 15 kW: 24K to 60K
- 20 kW: 36K to 60K
- 25 kW: 60K only
Circuits and power supply
The 5, 8 and 10 kW kits connect to one circuit. The 15 and 20 kW kits need two, and the 25 kW three, each with its own MCA and maximum protection. The D5FUAA product data states the air handlers are not equipped for a single-point electrical connection with electric heat: a separate power supply is required. The values for each output appear in the table when you select it. Have your electrical service checked before choosing a high output.

What to know before installing
- Each output is listed for certain air handler sizes only: check the “Air handler sizes listed” row of the model you pick.
- The 15 and 20 kW kits have 2 supply circuits and the 25 kW has 3, each with its own protection.
- A separate power supply is required: the air handler is not equipped for a single-point connection with electric heat.
- The supply circuit is done by a licensed electrician, with the unit powered off.

Which kit fits my air handler?
Per the manufacturer’s table: 5 kW from 18K to 36K, 8 kW up to 48K, 10 kW from 18K to 60K, 15 kW from 24K to 60K, 20 kW from 36K to 60K and 25 kW for the 60K only. We pick the output from a heating load calculation.
How many circuits do I need?
One for the 5, 8 and 10 kW kits, two for the 15 and 20 kW and three for the 25 kW, each with its own MCA and maximum protection.
Do these kits fit a DLFUAA air handler?
The manufacturer’s DLFUAA product data we checked lists a different kit series. Send us your air handler model number and we confirm before ordering.
Can you install it?
