Quick facts
An electric furnace that modulates its heat from 0 to 100%
What the Dettson Suprême Modulante SUP10-M240V12 is
Most electric furnaces heat in stages: one element, then two, then all of them. The Suprême Modulante works differently. Its solid-state control varies the element output from 0 to 100%, following the demand of a modulating thermostat or a communicating system. The furnace therefore matches its heat to the home’s real need, minute after minute, instead of switching between on and off.
This model, 10 kW at 240 V or 7.5 kW at 208 V, is for homeowners who want precise central heating, and for those building a complete system around a Dettson heat pump.
Made to work with a heat pump
According to Dettson, the Modulante allows its Right-Sized® System to be installed, in combination with its heat pumps, including the Alizé for modulating cooling. With a communicating system and the coil on the return side, the heat pump and the elements can heat at the same time: the elements supplement the heat pump instead of replacing it. With a 2-stage or modulating heat pump, the backup takes over automatically, using the CALME or FUSION modes. Dettson’s K03081 interface links the furnace to the heat pump.
How it fits a home around here
The Modulante is compatible with Smart Duct® small ducts, a useful solution when there is no room for large ducts. In that configuration, Dettson lists a maximum airflow of 1,000 CFM and cooling up to 2.5 tons. The 1/2 HP ECM motor moves the air, and a control interface lets you set up the whole unit.
Like the other Suprême furnaces, it is multiposition, approved for zero clearance and for mobile homes, and accepts copper or aluminum supply wiring. It connects at 240/208 V with 2 wires, on a breaker of no more than 60 A at 240 V or 50 A at 208 V.
AirGreen’s installation
A modulating or communicating system needs careful installation: the right thermostat, the right wiring and consistent settings between the furnace and the heat pump. AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, and our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 covers ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. We start with a free on-site estimate, then give you a written quote that specifies the thermostat, the coil and, if needed, the heat pump. The installation ends with the interface setup and the commissioning of the system.
Let’s talk about your system
We install in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore. Tell us about your project, furnace alone or complete system, and we will suggest the combination that fits.

Heat that follows demand, instead of starting and stopping
The SUP10-M240V12 is not limited to a few fixed stages: its output varies from 0 to 100% through solid-state modulation. With a communicating heat pump, it can heat at the same time as the heat pump.
- Homes looking for a steady temperature, run by a modulating or communicating thermostat
- Smart Duct® small-duct systems
- Dettson’s Right-Sized® System, combined with a Dettson heat pump
- Buildings supplied at 208 V, where it delivers 7.5 kW
Specifications
From the manufacturer’s documentation. A value the manufacturer does not publish is not listed.
What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. An electric furnace is not a heat pump.
- Modulating thermostat (V/W2, C, R, G, Y1, Y2, O, DH terminals) or communicating thermostat (1, 2, R, C terminals and RJ11 cable); not included.
- Simultaneous operation with a heat pump requires a communicating system and a coil on the return side. Dettson offers the K03081 interface.
- Maximum breaker 60 A at 240 V and 50 A at 208 V; ampacity 54.0 A at 240 V and 47.8 A at 208 V, according to Dettson.
- DFB-SUP base required in downflow on a combustible floor.
- Coil and outdoor unit sold separately.

Frequently asked questions
What does “modulating” mean?
The element output varies from 0 to 100% through solid-state modulation, following the demand of a modulating thermostat or a communicating system (5 to 100%). The furnace matches its heat to the need of the moment instead of moving from one fixed stage to the next.
Which thermostat is needed?
A modulating thermostat, wired to the V/W2, C, R, G, Y1, Y2, O and DH terminals, or a communicating thermostat, wired to the 1, 2, R and C terminals with an RJ11 cable. We choose it with you based on the rest of the system.
Can it heat at the same time as a heat pump?
Yes, with a communicating system and the coil on the return side. With a 2-stage or modulating heat pump, the furnace takes over automatically, using the CALME or FUSION modes. Dettson offers the K03081 interface.
What does Smart Duct® compatibility mean?
The furnace is compatible with Dettson’s Smart Duct® small ducts. In that case, Dettson lists up to 1,000 CFM of airflow and 2.5 tons of cooling.
What electrical hookup is needed?
A 2-wire 240/208 V supply, with a breaker of no more than 60 A at 240 V or 50 A at 208 V. Dettson lists a 43.7 A total current and a 54.0 A ampacity at 240 V.
Does it qualify for a grant?
No. Sold alone, an electric furnace does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. For a system with a heat pump, ask us for a complete quote.
