Quick facts
Electric heat that adjusts continuously, from 0 to 100 %
The Suprême Modulante in a few words
Most electric furnaces work in steps: they heat, stop, then start again. The Dettson Suprême Modulante SUP15-M240V12 works differently. Its solid-state control varies the output of the elements from 0 to 100 %, based on the demand sent by the thermostat. It delivers up to 15 kW at 240 V (11.3 kW at 208 V) and moves air with a 1/2 HP ECM motor.
A control interface lets you set up the whole unit, and the furnace accepts two types of thermostats: modulating, which sends a demand from 5 to 100 %, or communicating, connected with an RJ11 cable.
Who it is for
It is for homeowners who want steady central electric heat and who think long term. It is compatible with Dettson’s Smart Duct® small ducts, a useful option when there is no room for conventional ductwork, for example during a renovation in a Montreal plex or a house on the North Shore. In that configuration, Dettson publishes a maximum airflow of 1,000 CFM and maximum cooling of 2.5 tons.
For conventional ducts, Dettson’s sheet and manual do not give the same maximum values. We therefore validate them before choosing the coil, rather than promising you an uncertain figure.
With a heat pump, through a Quebec winter
Dettson designed the Suprême Modulante for its Right-Sized® system, in combination with its heat pumps. With a communicating system and a coil on the return, the elements and the heat pump can run at the same time. With a two-stage or modulating heat pump, backup is automatic, through the CALME and FUSION modes, via the K03081 interface. In very cold weather, the elements can therefore add to the heat pump’s output without shutting it off.
Installation by AirGreen
A family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. For a modulating furnace, our work includes:
- the free on-site estimate and a detailed written quote;
- checking the circuit: 80 A maximum breaker at 240 V and 78.6 A ampacity according to Dettson;
- choosing and wiring the modulating or communicating thermostat;
- connecting to the ducts, setting up the interface and commissioning.
The furnace is multi-position: upflow, downflow with the DFB-SUP base depending on the floor, horizontal or suspended. We install it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and on the South Shore.
Your next step
Ask for a free estimate: we assess your ducts, your electrical service and your heat-pump project, then give you a written quote. Consider financing to spread out the investment.
Electric heat that follows the home’s demand
The SUP15-M240V12 modulates the output of its elements from 0 to 100 % with a solid-state control. Driven by a modulating or communicating thermostat, it matches its heat to the actual need instead of only running on and off.
- Homes that want steadier central electric heat
- Small-duct Smart Duct® systems
- A Right-Sized® system with a Dettson heat pump
- Replacing an old furnace in a home that already has ductwork
Specifications
From the manufacturer’s documentation. A value the manufacturer does not publish is not listed.
What to know before installing
- Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Dedicated circuit: 80 A maximum breaker at 240 V (70 A at 208 V) and 78.6 A ampacity at 240 V according to Dettson.
- Modulation requires a modulating thermostat or a communicating thermostat (RJ11 cable).
- For conventional ducts, Dettson’s sheet and manual do not give the same airflow or the same maximum cooling: we confirm these values before matching a coil.
- The air-conditioning or heat-pump coil is not included.
- In downflow, the DFB-SUP base may be required depending on the type of floor.

Frequently asked questions
What does “modulating” mean?
The output of the elements varies from 0 to 100 % through a solid-state control, instead of only going from off to full power. The thermostat sends a demand from 5 to 100 %.
Which thermostat is needed?
A modulating thermostat (V/W2, C, R, G, Y1, Y2, O, DH terminals) or a communicating thermostat connected with an RJ11 cable. We choose it with you based on the rest of the system.
Can it heat at the same time as a heat pump?
Yes, with a communicating system and a coil on the return. With a two-stage or modulating heat pump, backup is automatic (CALME and FUSION modes), through the K03081 interface.
My ducts are small. Is it compatible?
The Suprême Modulante is compatible with Smart Duct® small ducts. In that case, Dettson publishes a maximum airflow of 1,000 CFM and maximum cooling of 2.5 tons.
Does it qualify for a grant?
No. Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
