Quick facts
A 2.5-ton coil that installs upright or lying down
A coil that ships in its cabinet
ADP’s HE31130C175B1622AP is an evaporator A-coil already mounted in an embossed cabinet 16.5 in high, 17.5 in wide and 20.5 in deep. There is no cabinet to build on site: the coil connects directly to the outlet of the electric furnace or air handler, then to the ductwork. Its nominal size is 2.5 tons, or 30,000 BTU/h, and it forms the indoor part of a central air conditioner or central heat pump, two uses ADP states its HE coils are compatible with.
Upright or horizontal
What sets this model apart is its multi-position design. ADP designs it for upflow, or for horizontal installation to the left or right. It ships in a left-hand configuration (code 22) and converts on site.
This helps in several common situations around Montreal:
- an air handler lying in a basement ceiling, to keep the room clear;
- a unit installed in a crawl space, where the height does not allow a vertical installation;
- a townhouse or condo with a narrow mechanical room.
For a downflow unit, ADP’s documentation does not clearly confirm this model: we then validate the configuration with the manufacturer before ordering.
The technical details that matter
Metering is by piston, on R-410A. Because the piston must match the outdoor unit, we check it before commissioning. The E31 slab is copper, the connections are brazed and the suction is 3/4 in ODF. The drain pan is moulded from UV-resistant, 450°F polymer with Microban antimicrobial additive, and the coil undergoes a helium leak test and a 500 psi air pressure test at the factory. It weighs 38 lb.
A coil sold alone has no efficiency rating of its own; it is not eligible for the LogisVert grant. ADP warrants it for 5 years on parts, with a possible extension to 10 years under the conditions of its extended warranty; labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
Leave it to AirGreen
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). We assess your installation on site free of charge, choose the coil position, prepare a written quote, then set the coil, braze the connections, connect the drain and commission the system. We serve Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore.

A cased coil that installs upright or lying down
The HE31130C175B1622AP comes in its own cabinet. It connects to the outlet of an electric furnace or air handler, vertically or horizontally, and forms the indoor part of a 2.5-ton central air conditioner or heat pump.
- Air handlers installed horizontally, in a basement ceiling or a crawl space
- 17.5 in wide upflow electric furnaces
- Adding air conditioning or a 2.5-ton central heat pump
- Condos, townhouses and semi-detached homes with ductwork

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. The coil has no efficiency rating of its own; performance depends on the outdoor unit and indoor unit it is matched with.
- ADP’s documentation presents this model for upflow and horizontal installation; for a downflow installation, we validate the configuration with the manufacturer before ordering.
- Piston metering: we check that the orifice suits the matched outdoor unit before commissioning.
- 17.5 in wide cabinet: we compare it with the unit’s width and plan a transition if they differ.
- The outdoor unit, refrigerant lines and indoor unit are not included.

Frequently asked questions
Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes. ADP describes it as multi-position: upflow, or horizontal to the left or right. It ships in a left-hand configuration (code 22) and converts on site.
What about downflow?
ADP’s documentation does not clearly confirm it for this model. If your unit blows downward, we validate the configuration with the manufacturer before ordering.
Is a piston coil suitable for a heat pump?
ADP states that HE coils are compatible with air conditioning and heat pumps. The piston must, however, match the paired outdoor unit: we check it before commissioning.
Which outdoor unit should it be matched with?
A 2.5-ton (30,000 BTU/h) unit. ADP does not name a specific model for this coil: we confirm the match against the documentation of the chosen outdoor unit.
What warranty does ADP offer?
A 5-year limited parts warranty from installation, not exceeding 6 years from manufacture, extendable to 10 years under the conditions of ADP’s extended warranty. In Quebec, not registering does not reduce coverage. Labour and refrigerant are not covered by the manufacturer.
