Quick facts
A 3-ton ADP coil built for 21 in units
The typical scenario
A two-storey cottage, a 21 in wide electric furnace in the basement, ductwork serving every room, and owners who want air conditioning in summer or a 3-ton central heat pump. That is exactly the kind of project ADP’s HE33136C210B2022AP is aimed at. This evaporator A-coil, with a 3-ton (36,000 BTU/h) nominal size, ships in a 21.0 in wide embossed cabinet that lines up with the unit, without a transition. ADP states its HE coils are compatible with air conditioning and heat pumps.
In winter, with a heat pump, this same coil transfers heat to the air in the house; the electric furnace stays in place as backup heat. And if the air handler lies in the basement ceiling, the coil installs horizontally, provided the clearance allows it.
What you get
- An E33 copper slab in a 20.5 x 21.0 x 20.5 in (H x W x D) cabinet, weighing 50 lb.
- A multi-position design: upflow, or horizontal to the left or right, field convertible from the original left-hand configuration (code 22).
- Piston metering on R-410A and copper connections for brazing, including the 3/4 in ODF suction.
- A UV-resistant, 450°F polymer drain pan with Microban antimicrobial additive.
- A coil factory tested with helium and at 500 psi air pressure.
Points to check before installation
- Height: with a 20.5 in cabinet, the space under the main duct must be sufficient.
- The unit’s width, which must match the cabinet’s 21.0 in, otherwise a transition is needed.
- The piston, which must suit the chosen 3-ton outdoor unit.
- Airflow direction: for a downflow unit, a configuration not clearly confirmed for this model, we validate with ADP before ordering.
A coil sold alone has no efficiency rating of its own and is not eligible for the LogisVert grant. On warranty, ADP covers parts for 5 years from installation; the extension to 10 years follows the manufacturer’s conditions, and in Quebec not registering does not reduce coverage. Labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
Installation by AirGreen
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). We carry out these checks during a free on-site estimate, then give you a written quote. Our technicians then set the coil, braze the connections, connect the drain and commission the system, in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore.

The coil for 3-ton systems on a 21 in unit
The HE33136C210B2022AP sits on a 21 in wide electric furnace or air handler, vertically or horizontally. With a 3-ton outdoor unit, it forms a central air conditioner or central heat pump.
- Cottages and single-family homes heated by a 21 in electric furnace
- Adding a 3-ton central heat pump to existing ductwork
- Replacing a 3-ton cased coil of the same width
- Air handlers installed horizontally with enough clearance

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. A coil has no efficiency rating of its own; performance depends on the outdoor unit and indoor unit it is matched with.
- The cabinet is 20.5 in high: we measure the space between the unit and the main duct before confirming the model.
- Piston metering: we check that the orifice suits the 3-ton outdoor unit before commissioning.
- Upflow or horizontal according to ADP; downflow is not clearly confirmed for this model and is validated with the manufacturer.
- The outdoor unit, refrigerant lines and indoor unit are not included.

Frequently asked questions
How much height is needed?
The cabinet is 20.5 in high, 21.0 in wide and 20.5 in deep. We measure the space available above the unit, or beside it if it lies horizontally, before confirming the model.
Why choose this model over a narrower 3-ton coil?
The HE series also offers a 3-ton coil in a narrower, lower cabinet. This one, 21.0 in wide, lines up with units of that width. We choose based on the unit in place.
Does the coil need to be registered for the extended warranty?
ADP brings the warranty to 10 years when its conditions are met: registration within 90 days, an owner-occupied single-family residence and a model covered by an extended-warranty promotion. In Quebec, according to ADP’s warranty text, not registering does not reduce coverage. The base warranty is 5 years on parts.
Does it work with a heat pump?
Yes. ADP states that HE coils are compatible with air conditioning and heat pumps. With piston metering, we check that the orifice suits the outdoor unit.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not when sold alone. For a complete replacement, we can quote you a complete central heat pump.
