Quick facts
The 5-ton ADP coil for 24.5 in units
A wide cabinet that lines up with the unit
Some high-capacity air handlers and electric furnaces are 24.5 in wide. Pairing them with a narrower coil means building a transition, with the connections and sealing that involves. ADP’s HE50160C245B2722AP avoids that step: its embossed cabinet is 24.5 in wide, 27.5 in high and 20.5 in deep, and lines up with the unit.
With a 5-ton (60,000 BTU/h) nominal size, it forms the indoor part of a central air conditioner or central heat pump, two uses ADP states its HE coils are compatible with. It suits large homes as well as small commercial spaces whose ductwork serves a large area.
At 27.5 in high, the cabinet also needs generous vertical clearance above the unit. In a basement where the main duct runs low, it can be simpler to install the assembly horizontally: we compare both options during the visit and present them in the quote.
A "Non-Core" option: plan for the lead time
This model uses the E50 slab, which ADP classifies among its "Non-Core" options. According to the manufacturer, core options offer better availability. In practice, we confirm the supply lead time before setting the date of the work, so that your installation is not scheduled around a part that has not yet arrived.
The sheet at a glance
- E50 copper slab, piston metering on R-410A.
- 7/8 in ODF suction connection, copper, for brazing.
- Multi-position design: upflow, or horizontal to the left or right, field convertible from the original left-hand configuration (code 22).
- UV-resistant, 450°F polymer drain pan with Microban antimicrobial additive.
- Helium leak test and 500 psi air pressure test at the factory.
- Weight: 72 lb.
For a downflow unit, ADP’s documentation does not clearly confirm this model: we then validate with the manufacturer. Sold alone, the coil has no efficiency rating of its own and is not eligible for the LogisVert grant. ADP warrants it for 5 years on parts from installation, with a possible extension to 10 years under its conditions; labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
Installation by AirGreen
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). After a free on-site estimate and a written quote, our technicians set and support the coil, braze the connections, check the piston, connect the drain and commission the system. We serve Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore.
Let’s measure your unit and confirm the lead time together: the estimate is free and financing is available.
A 5-ton coil for 24.5 in units
The HE50160C245B2722AP lines up with a 24.5 in wide electric furnace or air handler. With a 5-ton outdoor unit, it forms the indoor part of a high-capacity central air conditioner or heat pump.
- 24.5 in wide air handlers and electric furnaces
- 5-ton central air conditioners and central heat pumps
- Replacing a cased coil of the same width
- Large homes and small commercial spaces with ductwork

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: not eligible for the LogisVert grant. A coil has no efficiency rating of its own; performance depends on the outdoor unit and indoor unit it is matched with.
- The E50 slab is a "Non-Core" option at ADP, with less favourable availability than core options: we confirm the lead time before scheduling the work.
- The coil weighs 72 lb and its cabinet is 27.5 in high: we check access, clearance and, for a horizontal installation, the supports.
- Piston metering: we check that the orifice suits the outdoor unit. Downflow is not clearly confirmed for this model and is validated with ADP.
- The outdoor unit, refrigerant lines and indoor unit are not included.

Frequently asked questions
Why choose a 24.5 in cabinet?
Because it lines up with an electric furnace or air handler of that width, without a transition. If your unit is narrower, the HE series also offers a 5-ton coil in a narrower cabinet; we choose after measuring.
Is the lead time longer?
It can be. ADP classifies the E50 slab among its "Non-Core" options, whose availability is less favourable than that of core options. We confirm the lead time before setting the installation date.
What suction line size?
The suction connection is 7/8 in ODF, copper, for brazing. If the existing lines are a different size, adapting or replacing them is included in the quote.
Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes. ADP designs it for upflow or horizontal installation to the left or right, field convertible. At 72 lb, it needs solid supports when lying horizontally. Downflow is not clearly confirmed for this model.
Is it suitable for a central heat pump?
Yes. ADP states that HE coils are compatible with air conditioning and heat pumps. We check that the piston suits the chosen 5-ton outdoor unit.
