Per the two AHRI certificates, the MPD 24,000 gives more heat at 8.3 °C (26,000 against 23,000 BTU/h), with a SEER of 21 against 20 and an HSPF of 11 against 10. The Commodore23 24,000 has the lower published limit (−25 against −20 °C; the table of the French sheet prints −20 °C) and the same published outdoor sound, 59 dB(A). Its line set can run 25 m to its single head; on the MPD 24,000 each line is limited to 20 m, for 60 m in total. Neither the MPD24KCH21S-O nor the Commodore23 OCD24KCH20S is on the NEEP and ENERGY STAR lists read on November 5, 2026.

The MPD 18,000 comes charged for 10 m of line set, the MPD 24,000 for 30 m, and the MPD 30,000, 36,000 and 42,000 for 40 m. Beyond that, the installer adds 0.2 oz of refrigerant per foot.

From the MPD 18,000 to the MPD 42,000, the MPD-22 sheet gives the same sizes at the outdoor unit: 1/4 in liquid, 3/8 in gas. On the wall heads, only the gas line grows with size: 1/2 in on the 12,000, 5/8 in on the 18,000 and 24,000.

ACD’s SMD ducted and CCD cassette manuals spell it out: the capacity of the heads running at the same time must not exceed 150% of the MPD outdoor unit’s capacity.

The MPD 18,000 has 2 ports, the MPD 24,000 has 3, the MPD 30,000 has 4, and the MPD 36,000 and 42,000 have 5. For the MPD 36,000, however, ACD’s sheets publish no five-head combination. The 2-zone and 3-zone pages check your pair or trio of heads against ACD’s table; the 4-zone and 5-zone pages cover heights and line lengths.
ACD MPD-22 and English multi-zone sheetsFive types: the OCD wall head, from 9,000 to 24,000 BTU, the CCD ceiling cassette, the SMD ducted unit, the CMD floor console and the FCD floor-ceiling unit. The wall heads are the OCD09KCH23S-I, OCD12KCH22S-I, OCD18KCH20S-I and OCD24KCH20S-I. ACD’s combination table reads by size (09, 12, 18, 24), not by type.

ACD MPD-22 sheet; English ACD multi-zone sheetNo AHRI certificate is published for the MPD42KCH21S-O, while the MPD 18,000 to 36,000 have theirs (202110494, 202110497, 202110500 and 202110503). For the MPD 42,000, we therefore use the MPD-22 sheet: 45,000 BTU/h of nominal heating (the sheet prints no test temperature), SEER 21 and HSPF 10.2. ACD’s English sheet prints 43,000 BTU/h.
