Quick facts
The comfort of an ECM blower in a 23 kW electric furnace
An ECM motor adjusted by season
The Dettson Suprême Avantage SUP23-A240V12 builds on the base of the Avantage series, with electric elements that come on in sequence, quietly, and front-panel controls, but its blower is driven by a 1/2 HP ECM motor. With this motor, airflow is set separately for heating and cooling. Dettson publishes a current of 2.3 A at 240 V for the motor, and a 5-year warranty on the ECM motor.
The furnace delivers 23 kW at 240 V and 17.3 kW at 208 V. It connects on 2-wire 240/208 V; a 3-wire connection for 120–208/240 V is possible with accessories.
Which home it suits
It suits a bungalow or semi-detached home that already has ductwork, where the calculation confirms a heating need of this size and cooling stays reasonable: Dettson accepts a coil of up to 3 tons, on the supply or return side. It is also a good choice for a plex unit with its own duct system. Its multi-position design, approved for zero clearance, lets it go in the basement, in a mechanical closet or horizontal, suspended if needed.
Limits to know about
With a heat pump, Dettson makes non-simultaneous operation mandatory: the elements and the heat pump never heat at the same time. The thermostat must offer this function, otherwise a manufacturer accessory is added. On the electrical side, total current reaches 98.8 A at 240 V and the maximum breaker is 125 A, at 240 V as at 208 V: a dedicated circuit is needed, and panel capacity must be confirmed. Finally, an electric furnace sold alone is not a heat pump and does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
What AirGreen takes care of
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 for ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. Your project follows these steps:
- visit and free on-site estimate, with a heating calculation and a look at the electrical panel;
- written quote, which specifies the thermostat chosen if a heat pump is planned;
- installation, connection to the ducts and electrical connection;
- setting the ECM motor airflow for heating and, where applicable, for cooling;
- checking the temperature rise, published at 60°F at 240 V, then explaining the controls.
Dettson covers parts for 5 years in residential use (1 year in commercial use); labour is not covered by the manufacturer.

An electric furnace with an ECM blower
The SUP23-A240V12 keeps the elements and front-panel controls of the Avantage series, but its blower is driven by a 1/2 HP ECM motor whose airflow is set separately for heating and cooling.
- Replacing an electric furnace and moving to an ECM blower
- Homes with central air conditioning up to 3 tons
- Pairing with a heat pump, alternating with the elements
- Bungalows, semi-detached homes and plex units with ductwork
Specifications

What to know before installing
- Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump: it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Total current of 98.8 A at 240 V (86.3 A at 208 V), ampacity of 119.3 A (104.5 A at 208 V), 125 A maximum breaker on a dedicated circuit.
- Maximum cooling of 3 tons; coil on the supply or return side.
- With a heat pump, non-simultaneous operation of the elements and the heat pump is mandatory: the chosen thermostat must support it, otherwise an accessory is required.
- Dettson publishes a temperature rise of 60°F at 240 V; we check it at commissioning.

Frequently asked questions
What does the ECM motor bring to this furnace?
It lets the airflow be adjusted separately for heating and for cooling. Dettson lists a current of 2.3 A at 240 V for this 1/2 HP motor.
Can I add air conditioning?
Yes, with a coil on the supply or return side, up to 3 tons according to Dettson.
How does it work with a heat pump?
The elements and the heat pump must never heat at the same time: Dettson makes this non-simultaneous operation mandatory. The thermostat must offer this function, otherwise a manufacturer accessory is added. We choose the right setup with you.
What is the warranty?
Dettson covers parts for 5 years in residential use (1 year in commercial use) and the ECM motor for 5 years. Labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
Does it qualify for LogisVert?
No. Sold alone, an electric furnace is not a heat pump and does not qualify.
