Where does the indoor unit go?

In the basement, a closet or a crawl space: it installs upflow, downflow with a kit, or horizontal. For LogisVert, it must stay inside the home’s insulated envelope, not in the attic.

Can my existing ducts be used?

It has to be checked on site. Fujitsu’s indoor unit works with external static pressure of 0.08 to 0.80 in. WG (small cabinet) or 0.2 to 0.8 in. WG (medium cabinet).

Is a central heat pump eligible for LogisVert?

Yes. The guide accepts a new ducted split (central) air-to-air heat pump, ENERGY STAR certified, of at least 12,000 BTU/h nominal, installed by a business holding the appropriate RBQ licence.

What LogisVert amount for a FUJITSU central heat pump?

From $1,272 to $4,464 depending on the model, at $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C. The amount never exceeds the pre-tax cost.

Can I replace only the outdoor unit?

Not with LogisVert: replacing a single coil or a single indoor or outdoor unit is not eligible.

My home has geothermal. Is it eligible?

No. The guide excludes installing or replacing a central heat pump in a home that has a geothermal system.

Is a heat pump with electric back-up a dual-energy system (Rate DT)?

No. Rate DT requires a fuel back-up: natural gas, oil, propane or wood pellets. A heat pump with electric back-up remains an all-electric system.

Does the $5,000 federal grant still exist?

No. Natural Resources Canada states that the Canada Greener Homes Grant is closed.

What about the older R-410A models?

Fujitsu lists the AMUG air handlers of that generation as retired. Only two combinations are still in the ENERGY STAR list.

The Centauri heats down to -21 °C and comes in 1 to 4 tons. The XLTH heats down to -26 °C, comes in 2.5, 3 and 4 tons, and keeps more heat in the cold: 51,000 BTU/h at -15 °C in the 48,000, against 41,000 for the Centauri.

Q: What back-up heat goes with a FUJITSU central heat pump?

Fujitsu offers 2 to 16 kW electric kits that fit inside the indoor unit, on a dedicated circuit. Back-up heat switches on automatically.

Two R-32 series share the same AMUH indoor unit: the Centauri heats down to -21 °C in six sizes, the Centauri XLTH down to -26 °C in three sizes. LogisVert pays $1,272 to $4,464 depending on size.

02 · The path of the heat

From the outdoor unit to every room.

A central heat pump replaces the furnace or joins the existing duct system. Here is the air’s path.

1. The outdoor unit

It draws heat from the outside air in winter and rejects the house’s heat in summer.

2. The refrigerant lines

Two copper pipes connect the outdoor unit to the indoor unit.

3. The AMUH unit

Its coil heats or cools the air; its fan pushes it into the ducts. The electric back-up, if any, sits here.

4. The ducts

Warm or cool air reaches each room through the supply registers.

5. The return air

Air comes back to the unit through the return, past the filter.

03 · Centauri or Centauri XLTH

A question of cold.
