Les Cèdres: houses and rural properties
Les Cèdres is part of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges RCM, west of the island of Montréal. Single-family homes, village houses and rural properties dominate. Many are heated with electric baseboards: a wall-mounted or multi-zone heat pump cools in summer and helps lower the heating bill in winter. Near the St. Lawrence River, summer humidity is often very noticeable: a heat pump with a good dehumidification mode makes a difference. Our teams come from our Montréal office, about 50 km away, and also work in nearby towns: Pointe-des-Cascades, Pincourt, Coteau-du-Lac and Vaudreuil-Dorion.
Les Cèdres by the numbers: the 2021 Census
In the 2021 Census, Les Cèdres had 7,184 residents (up 6.0% since 2016) on 77.6 km², or 92 people per km². Of 2,755 occupied dwellings, 79% are single-detached houses, 12% are apartments in duplexes or buildings under five storeys and 7% are semi-detached and row houses. 33% of homes were built before 1981 and 35% since 2001; 89% of households own their home. Newer, better-insulated houses often need a smaller heat pump than people expect: a room-by-room calculation avoids paying for capacity you don't need. Where to install the outdoor unit in Les Cèdres
In Les Cèdres, where 79% of homes are single-detached houses, the outdoor unit usually sits on a raised ground pad or a wall bracket at the side or back of the house. We keep it above the snow, away from neighbours' windows, and respect the setbacks set by the municipality. Before installing, see our page on permits and bylaws in Les Cèdres.
Humid summers, cold winters: choosing the right capacity
In Les Cèdres, as everywhere in southern Québec, summers can be hot and humid and winters harsh. A unit that is too small can't keep up during heat waves; one that is too big cycles on and off without drying the air properly. That's why we measure rooms, windows and insulation before recommending a capacity. A cold-climate heat pump also keeps heating efficiently in winter.
Repair, maintain, replace
Our refrigeration technicians repair all brands, including ones we did not install. A spring maintenance visit, before the heat arrives, keeps efficiency and air quality up. And when an old unit costs more to repair than to replace, we tell you plainly, with the price explained before any work.
