Saint-François: houses and rural properties
Saint-François is a district of Laval. Single-family homes, village houses and rural properties dominate. Many are heated with electric baseboards: a wall-mounted or multi-zone heat pump cools in summer and helps lower the heating bill in winter. Our teams come from our Montréal office, about 15 km away, and also work in nearby towns: Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, Terrebonne, Anjou and Montréal-Est.
Laval by the numbers: the 2021 Census
Saint-François is part of Laval, which had 438,366 residents in the 2021 Census (up 3.6% since 2016). The figures below cover all of Laval. Of 169,785 occupied dwellings, 45% are single-detached houses, 33% are apartments in duplexes or buildings under five storeys, 12% are semi-detached and row houses and 10% are apartments in buildings of five storeys or more. 47% of homes were built before 1981 and 24% since 2001; 67% of households own their home. This mix of houses and apartments is why every quote starts with an assessment of the building, on site or from photos. Source: Statistics Canada, 2021 Census of Population.

Where to install the outdoor unit in Saint-François
Balcony, terrace, side wall or flat roof: the location is decided on site. We consider the distance to neighbours, noise, defrost water drainage in winter, access for maintenance and municipal rules and, in a condo, the syndicate's rules. Before installing, see our page on permits and bylaws in Saint-François.
Humid summers, cold winters: choosing the right capacity
In Saint-François, as everywhere in Greater Montréal, summers can be hot and humid and winters harsh. A unit that is too small can't keep up during heat waves; one that is too big cycles on and off without drying the air properly. That's why we measure rooms, windows and insulation before recommending a capacity. A cold-climate heat pump also keeps heating efficiently in winter.
Repair, maintain, replace
Our refrigeration technicians repair all brands, including ones we did not install. A spring maintenance visit, before the heat arrives, keeps efficiency and air quality up. And when an old unit costs more to repair than to replace, we tell you plainly, with the price explained before any work.
