YORK PH3 packaged heat pump: 2 to 5 tons, single- or three-phase

The PH3 is YORK’s residential packaged unit in R-454B: 13.4 SEER2 at all four tonnages, from 2 to 5 tons. Same ratings and cabinet on single-phase and three-phase from 3 to 5 tons, but YORK publishes a 10-year parts and compressor warranty on single-phase, with registration, and 1 year on parts and 5 years on the compressor on three-phase.

Extended YORK warranty of 10 years on parts and compressor, with online registration within 90 days of installation. Offered from 2 to 5 tons. Electric backup from 5 to 25 kW nominal.

What YORK builds into the PH3 cabinet.

Top discharge

The fan blows upward, above the cabinet.

G90 steel

G90 galvanized steel and powder coat, tested 1,000 hours in salt spray.

Removable base rails

Forklift access from every side; two screws per corner to remove them when height is short.

Factory RDS

R-454B leak detection installed at the factory; the thermostat wires to its screw terminals.

Demand defrost

Defrost curves preloaded in the board, matched to the unit’s capacity.

Stamped coil grille

Slotted, it protects the outdoor coil.

What people ask us about the PH3.

Does the PH3 come in 2 tons?

Yes, and it’s the only 2-ton packaged unit in our catalogue: the PH3E24N00S21, on 208/230 V single-phase, on a narrower 35 3/4 in. cabinet.

Why does the warranty differ between single- and three-phase?

That’s what YORK publishes: 10 years on parts and compressor with online registration within 90 days for the single-phase version, and 1 year on parts, 5 years on the compressor for the three-phase version.

How cold does the PH3 heat?

Down to 0 °F (−18 °C) outdoors, per YORK’s application limits. Below that, the electric backup takes over; we size it at the visit.

What circuit does a PH3 need?

Without electric backup, 19.8 to 40 A (MCA) on single-phase and 21.8 to 29.5 A on three-phase, by tonnage. Electric backup adds its own calculation: we do it with your panel at the visit.

Is the PH3 loud?

70.3 to 72.9 dB(A) in cooling on single-phase and 72 dB(A) on three-phase, as sound power under AHRI 270.
