03 · By room

Your room, the series that fits it.

Five situations we often see, and what YORK’s figures say for each. The exact size is chosen at the visit.

P Series, 30,000 or 36,000 BTU/h

They are the only two YORK wall sizes in our catalogue above 24,000 BTU/h: 28,400 and 34,600 BTU/h of rated heating at 8.3 °C, and up to 98.5 ft of line set.

See the P Series →
P and X Series, 9,000 and 12,000 BTU/h

On 115 V, the X is rated 23 and 22 SEER, the P 16. The required circuit runs from 12 to 20 A (MCA) depending on the model: we check it at the visit, along with the electrical panel.

See the X Series →
Z Series, 22 dB(A) at its lowest

At its lowest speed, the 9,000 BTU/h Z indoor unit goes down to 22 dB(A), versus 28 (P) and 29 (X) on 208/230 V. Sound pressure levels published by YORK.

See the Z Series →
Z Series, down to −30 °C

The Z’s heating range goes down to −30 °C, the P’s and X’s to −20 °C. YORK claims “80%” of heating capacity at −30 °C (−22 °F) for the Z, without stating the reference capacity.

See the Z Series →
Z: built-in Wi-Fi

The Z has Wi-Fi built in; the P and the X need the CS532AH adapter. All three run on the EWPE Smart app (Google Play, App Store), according to YORK.

06 · Glossary

The catalogue’s terms, in plain words.

SEER

Seasonal cooling efficiency under the pre-2023 edition of AHRI 210/240, used in YORK’s 2020 catalogue. It does not compare directly with the SEER2 of central systems.

EER

Cooling efficiency at a single test point, 35 °C (95 °F) outdoors.

HSPF

Seasonal heating efficiency, on the same basis as SEER. The higher, the less heating costs.

dB(A)

A-weighted sound pressure level. The catalogue gives the indoor unit’s at each speed, and the outdoor unit’s.

MCA · MOCP

Minimum circuit ampacity and maximum overcurrent protection: the two values that size the electrical circuit.

Heating range

The outdoor temperatures within which YORK publishes heating operation: down to −20 °C for the P and the X, −30 °C for the Z.

07 · LogisVert

LogisVert and ENERGY STAR: none of the YORK wall units we carry.

0/17

None of the 17 AHRI numbers on our YORK wall-unit listings is on Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert list of October 26, 2026 (“homeowner, existing house” profile), nor in the ENERGY STAR records checked the same day. So we promise no LogisVert amount on these units.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about YORK wall units.

Which YORK wall unit heats in the deepest cold?

The Z Series: its heating range goes down to −30 °C, versus −20 °C for the P and X Series. Below those temperatures the unit is outside the range YORK publishes; we take that into account when choosing backup heat at the visit.

Does a YORK wall unit qualify for LogisVert?

Not ours: none of the 17 AHRI numbers on our YORK wall-unit listings is on Hydro-Québec’s October 26, 2026 list. So we promise no amount.

Can a YORK wall unit run on a 115 V circuit?

Yes, at 9,000 and 12,000 BTU/h, in the P and X Series. The required circuit runs from 12 to 20 A (MCA) depending on the model; we check it against your electrical panel at the visit.

How do I control a YORK wall unit from my phone?

The Z Series has Wi-Fi built in. The P and the X need the CS532AH adapter. YORK lists the EWPE Smart app, on Google Play and the App Store, for all three series.

Why does this page use SEER, and the central systems page SEER2?

YORK’s wall unit catalogue gives SEER, EER and HSPF ratings under the pre-2023 edition of AHRI 210/240; central systems are rated in SEER2 and HSPF2 under the 2023 edition, as listed by ENERGY STAR. The two scales do not compare directly.

What size wall unit for my room?

We choose it at the free visit, from the room’s area, insulation, windows and use. YORK sizes run from 9,000 to 18,000 BTU/h in the Z Series, up to 24,000 in the X Series and up to 36,000 in the P Series.
