02 · WN · XN

WN or XN: same cabinet, two refrigerants.

Size for size, the XN heats a little less at −8.3 °C; at 5 tons it is quieter (80 vs. 88 dB(A)) and its compressor has two speeds. The numbers:

AirGreen × YORK

YORK builds the Sunline; AirGreen puts it on the roof.

AirGreen reads your electrical service, picks the WN or XN and its options, then installs the unit on its roof curb and connects it to the ducts.

YORK
03 · Smart Equipment

The Smart Equipment board, standard on all 13 of our Sunline units.

YORK installs it at the factory on every WN and XN heat pump; the details below come from the WN guide.

USB port

Data logging, faults and software updates through the USB port.

LCD screen

Built-in screen with joystick, to read and set the board on the roof.

Three strikes, then lockout

The pressure switches and freezestats must trip three times within two hours before the board locks out the compressor.

Five alarms in memory

The board keeps the five most recent alarms for diagnosis.

BACnet card on 8 WN

BACnet MS/TP, Modbus and N2 communication to a building automation system (code C in the 14th character).

Cooling at 0 °F

According to YORK, the WN and XN cool down to 0 °F (−18 °C); on the WN, thanks to the built-in low-ambient control. Useful for spaces that make their own heat.

05 · Before you choose

Four numbers for placing a Sunline.

8 · 14 in.heights of YORK roof curbs; per the WN guide, the same curb for every size.
5 to 30 kWWN: electric heat added on site; 30 kW at 5 tons only, and at least 10 kW on 575 V.
  • The economizer’s power exhaust is for bottom duct connections only, according to YORK.
  • The coil guard offered as an accessory is not a hail guard: YORK sells the hail guard separately.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about the Sunline.

Why “Sunline” when the guide says KE/WN?

YORK’s WN guide is titled “KE/WN Series”, the XN guide “ZE/XN Series”. We keep the Sunline name for the family, and the WN and XN numbers for each listing.

Which listings have an economizer?

Eight of thirteen: the WN036, WN048 and WN060 on 575 V, the single-phase WN048, and all four XN. The 11th character of the number, C, shows it.

Can the WN connect to a building automation system?

Yes for eight of our nine WN, which have the BACnet MS/TP, Modbus and N2 card (code C in the 14th character). The single-phase WN036 has the stand-alone Smart Equipment control.

Does the Sunline heat in deep cold?

YORK’s guide publishes no heating limit for these rooftop units; it gives capacity at 17 °F (−8.3 °C): 21,000 to 31,800 BTU/h for the WN. Electric heat (5 to 30 kW on the WN) is sized at the visit.

What YORK warranty does the Sunline carry?

Per the guides: 1 year on the complete unit, 5 years on the compressor and on factory-installed heater elements.
