Quick facts
108 kW on 480 V, spread across stages that take turns
A high-capacity boiler for commercial and industrial buildings
The VoltMax SCR 108 (manufacturer designation: VOLTMAX SCR 108-480-3 PH) is a commercial electric boiler from Thermo 2000: 108 kW, or 368,496 BTU/h, on 480 V three-phase. It belongs to the series’ configuration B, with a 550 lb vertical cabinet holding 30 US gal of water.
We suggest it for buildings where hot-water heating runs long hours: a warehouse on the North Shore heated by unit heaters, a garage with a radiant floor in Longueuil, a commercial building whose air handling units have hot-water coils.
Sparing the elements, day after day
In a building this size, the boiler runs for much of the winter. Two mechanisms share the work. Solid-state relays (SCR) modulate output from 0 to 100% with demand, which, according to Thermo 2000, limits peak power. And the Schneider Electric controller rotates its stages, so the same elements are not always called on first.
These immersion elements are made of Incoloy and can be replaced. The day one of them needs changing, the job is on the element, not the boiler. Alarm codes on the screen, the web page and the Ethernet port’s email alarms help pinpoint what is going on quickly.
The rest of the data matters for design: 129.9 A on 480 V three-phase, four 2 1/2 in male NPT side connections, a maximum working pressure of 125 psi (862 kPa) as standard and a setpoint adjustable from 50 °F to 200 °F. The outdoor sensor is included, and the boiler communicates over BACnet IP or MS-TP if the building has a management system.
What AirGreen does
We first assess the building, free of charge and on site: 480 V service, mechanical room, loop, emitters, delivery route. The written quote we then give you includes the parts missing from Thermo 2000’s list, including the circulator and expansion tank.
Our crews deliver the boiler, set it in place within the published clearances (24 in in front, 32 in above, 3 in on the sides and back), connect the loop and the three-phase supply, mount the outdoor sensor, fill and purge the circuit. We then set up the controller with your maintenance lead.
Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years. AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years and holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work.

108 kW for commercial and industrial buildings on 480 V
Warehouses, garages, workshops and sizeable commercial buildings are often heated with hot water through unit heaters, coils or radiant floors. The VoltMax SCR 108 supplies these loops on 480 V three-phase and rotates its stages so the same elements do not always run first.
- Warehouses and distribution centres heated with hot water
- Garages and workshops with radiant floors or hot-water unit heaters
- Commercial buildings on 480 V three-phase
- Replacing a high-capacity commercial electric boiler

Frequently asked questions
What is stage rotation for?
The controller alternates the order in which the stages switch on, so the same elements do not always run first. It comes on top of SCR modulation from 0 to 100%.
Can the elements be replaced without changing the boiler?
Yes. Thermo 2000 uses replaceable Incoloy immersion elements. Electrical and mechanical components are covered for 2 years (parts and accessories) and the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating).
What current does it draw on 480 V?
129.9 A on 480 V three-phase, 60 Hz, according to Thermo 2000.
Can it supply hot-water unit heaters?
Yes, it can supply a unit heater loop; its setpoint adjusts from 50 °F to 200 °F. We check the water temperature your units require before setting up the boiler.
Can you install it?
Yes. We deliver and set the boiler in place, connect the 2 1/2 in loop and the 480 V supply, mount the outdoor sensor and commission it.
